Why all the rants about too much power?

I have to disagree with you there. The LT4 makes 200 more foot pounds of torque than the LT1, you are definitely going to feel that!! At any rpm and any throttle position, it's going to be more responsive and feel more powerful than the LT1, without a doubt. To get the same level of acceleration of an LT4 at 25% throttle, you'd probably have to be at 50% throttle or greater in the LT1 (this is just a rough example, but it's just another way of illustrating my point)
Torque just "feels good", that's why the L98 Corvettes felt so much faster than they really were, because they made a lot of torque down low, so the instant you touched the gas things started happening.

They all have plenty of power from the Stingray to the ZR1. I suppose it's just perception and what you enjoy.

Very well said. I'm not going to argue with anyone here, but I drove my son's Z06 for about 2,500 miles and when I want back to my Stingray it was rather a dud to me. Significant difference in torque. I didn't have to floor it to appreciate it. Now I'm in the hunt for a Z06. I don't want to drive a ZR1! I learned my lesson.

No argument, just a discussion.
Jeez, of course you're going to notice the significant difference in peak torque between the two if you can find a place to do it and you're feeling lucky that day. However, the argument was being made about the superiority of LT4 DOWN LOW TORQUE, but there's very little difference down low with even the LT1 breaking the tires loose and requiring throttle modulation. The torque curves show that. I suspect 99% of Z06 owners have never seen LT4 peak torque, and likewise most Stingray owners have never seen 460 ft lbs.
Moreover, this WAS also a discussion about street use. If you want move it over to the race track, yes I'd rather have a Z06.
I also just noticed a new argument about the advantage of not having to use as much throttle on the Z06. Well, who cares . . . I'll just press harder. We're talking street use peeps.

Matters not to me. It's all part of driving a car according to what I'm trying to accomplish.

It's like an Italian family, Everyone bitch about each other but don't attack any of us or the family will retaliate.

Why worry about it - those that want the feel of 455/460 hp can be satisfied with that power level. For those that want more, it’s great to have the choice in the Z06 and ZR1. I have no problem with the choices that either side makes - we’re all Corvette owners. Heck, for many generations of the car there have been options for buyers to choose an engine from a base level all the way to a mega HP level. Life is grand.

Boy are we all spoiled. I bet a lot of us are in our late 50s, 60s debating about 460hp, 650hp and 755hp. I am guessing lost in this thread is the fact that the king of the road when we were kids was the Chrysler 426 street hemi with 425hp and 490 ft-lb of torque. The Chevy LS6 was 450hp. The Ford Boss 429 was at that same level. The C2 was 435hp with the 427 tri power. You get where I am going? The base Corvette Stingray today would be king of the road back then. And we are tooling around in these as daily drivers. We should be damn lucky we are living through a second coming of the horsepower wars. I will be honest I never thought I would see these muscle cars come back to life in all their glory in a new car dealer. Not only are they more powerful they can also make turns. I am very grateful for my lowly 2016 Z51. Getting a Corvette was my boy hood dream since I saw a Nassau Blue C2 in the 1960s cruising Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, CA when I was a kid. Isn't that why a lot of us are buying these muscle cars and sports cars? I just hope the torch gets carried by the kids nowadays and they can look forward to buying their future Corvette with a hi torque electric motor with superconducting armatures and a superconducting battery.

If you prefer less power we have a Pnto for the street and a Constellation prop plane for your next flight.

LOL. Yes it went far longer than I expected. I was just trying to understand why a Z06 and ZR1 were for bragging rights. If that was the case I’d have kept my M3. It was just as fast on the street as the Stingray and GS plus far more practical 😄

Obviously the answer to this age-old question is up to the individual. I feel that the C7 Grand Sport is the perfect sports car, a good balance of power and handling, with great looks and a reasonable price. Others may want a more potent track weapon -- they can have their fare with the Z06 or ZR-1. Others may want even more power, and there are many tuners happy to build whatever the customer is willing to pay for... call it "cubic dollars."

Drifting
Some like vanilla, some like chocolate. Some like 460, some like 755. In both instances...different folks, different strokes.
There is NOT a wrong answer. Whatever makes YOU happy. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

Burning Brakes
you might be the first person that i have heard that likes the narrowbody over the wide body. I love the looks of the wide body and how much more aggressive it looks. I loved my C6z and love my C7z.After having a c6z there was no way I was going to get a GS with less HP... The torque in the c7z is incredible since it's all over the powerband.
