Default Buying used long distance-MacMulkin?

Ready to pull the trigger on my first corvette. Found the one I want but unfortunately it’s 12 hours away at MacMulkin so I would have to have it shipped. They’ve been fantastic and have sent pics and answered all my questions but it still feels strange buying it sight unseen. Anyone else bought used from them?

I've purchased cars all over the US, but never purchased one without inspecting it first. Many new and used C7 purchase threads on this forum.

I have no concerns buying from a dealer out of state. I've done so and had a great experience. I would however, highly recommend you get on a plane and inspect the vehicle before you buy it.

I once bought a ctsv used without seeing it first and it turned out great but i was nervous.... A $400 plane ticket might be worth the stress reduction but it's up to you!

Thanks guys. Prefer not to end up with a train wreck especially for my first corvette. They swear the car is mint(less than 5k miles and bought there) and they have a great reputation but I’m not sure I can take the chance. Flying out there to inspect the car is just not possible. I guess I’ll probably pass.

I bought my 2015 from out of state sight unseen other than pics. Drive my 2008 from Texas to Wisconsin to trade. Made a long weekend out of it with the wife and it was a blast. Car was fantastic, had 740 miles and was certified used so ended up being a great deal.

If you can't go inspect have a forum member take a look for you.

Totally agree...would be a blast to go with my son and drive it back but with winter weather(New Hampshire back to ohio) and work I just can’t swing it!

With MacMulkin's great reputation if I were to buy used from anyone out there, they would be the one. Have they offered any means of reducing your fears?

Nothing specific. Been dealing with Tommy Jr and he’s been awesome. Maybe I should ask?

Buying from MacMulkin, you're good as gold. Inspect the car upon arrival before you sign off on the delivery driver, noting any damage. But 99.9% you're not going to find anything amiss whatsoever. Buy it like you stole it after you get it!

They are a reputable dealer. What year is it. It should have a warranty if it only has 5k miles That should help with some of your fears. If its what you want at the price go for it

Its not certified so no warranty. They offered to give me a quote for an extended warranty but sounds like most folks get it from Dennis here on the forums.

Agreed with everyone here the dealers reputation proceeds them. I recently purchased a 2017 C7 with about 2300 miles and dealer, Carmax , transferred it for me but it was only a couple hundred miles 2 hours ...I could’ve passed on it once it arrived but it was everything they said it was going to be ..clean, 1 owner and ready to drive. The difference is you are making a decision , signing and the having it shipped..if it were new then yes ..used..I would think twice.

with your schedule and distance though ..I am sure you can source something a little closer..Good luck.

If you're looking for the "perfect" corvette than I would pass. Its a 2014 so its going to have scratches/nicks/etc no matter how low the mileage. As long as you accept that and are buying it to drive it, the $$$ is right, and its the car you want, go for it.

Maybe someone from the forum can stop by and check it out for you, take some pictures and get a friends take on the car in person... maybe you could facetime with them while they are there...

That’s a good point. Definitely not looking for the perfect corvette, just have a few very specific requirements(1 from me and 1 from my wife!)that are tough to find used and I’m not in the position to order a brand new one. I’m planning on driving it as much as possible!
