I have owned (3) C7's my 14' Base, 16' Z51, and now 19 GS... at what point did Chevy start charging for the convenience of starting the car and unlocking the doors @ $14.95 a month ?? That sucks.. also since mine was a CPO, according to the benefits, I should have 3 months of access .....but apparently they shut you off after a month unless you give them your CC info with a comment that "you can cancel before they charge" .... and I got a bridge to sell you made that mistake on my 14'....

I agree it’s so sleazy to now charge for a feature that was listed as part of the 2LT PREFERRED EQUIPMENT GROUP option (which specifically listed auto start) that I paid $4500 for!
The app should work 5 years on a new vehicle purchase. You also need to set up your onstar account by pushing the blue button inside your car along with the online registration that the dealer does. So you have to complete all these steps for it to work correctly.

Did that and they still want me to pay (setup OnStar account but wouldn't give them a CC)....

I think most vette owners can unlock and start their cars! I mean if they couldn't then they couldn't drive them right?
I realize you probably meant something else like unlocking the doors and starting the car via this Chevy App thing but I have an M7 so I can't start the car unless I'm in it and I have it configured to automatically allow me in if I have my FOB.
No consolation to those who purchased before 2018. As I posted earlier this was a line item in the option group I purchased of course they fa8led to mention the option expires. Really, an option (remote start) I paid for expires!
My 2017 Denali had 3 free years for the app....my 2017 Z only got a month.....was told it changed in 2017. No way I’m paying $15/month for the app. Complete BS on a $120K car.
New cars come with 5 years of free app unlock and the last used car i got a year ago came with 3 years free unlock from app. Maybe that changed?
News to me. Bought my 18 Grand Sport in April 18, it worked for 3 months.

Guess I gotta bitch at someone?
Exactly.
Sad that GM / Chevy wants to bill me for an App, that does less than the Ford Pass app that came with my 2017 pick up for FREE, never ever a charge. Tells me where the truck is, how much fuel in it, my range. Can lock, unlock and Start or turn off truck. I can program it to start at a desired time, like say 7:15 am Monday through Friday. It tells me if there is a recall, if service is needed, it a tire is low. I can make service appointments on it. Free, on a truck that was 30K less than my Grand Sport.
I had owned 8 GMC truck, last two Denali when I switch to Ford. Why? The Denali is so far behind the Platinum in technology it is not even funny.

GM changed how long you get the free remote start on the App. I have a 2016 Impala that I bought new and I get 5 years of free remote start from the App. They made a change in May of 2018 and if you sign up for Onstar after that date you must pay to have the ability to use the App for remote start after your free period. (30-90 days) So if you signed up for Onstar BEFORE May 2018 you are grandfathered into 5 years of free remote start from the App. If you sign up after May 2018 you must pay for that feature. I bought a used 2016 Corvette a few months ago and was VERY surprised to find out that this happened. I bought a automatic just so I could have the remote start on the App and now I found out I have to pay for it. On top of that, my transmission has the shudder problem that many 8 speeds haves. If I knew this before I bought the car I would have bought a 7 speed manual instead.
