Well, you can test out that theory for 30 days at no cost. Let us know if your theory holds up.

Once they have a way to auto charge your card, they have you between a rock and a very hard spot. With our C6, we made the mistake of taking a 'free' trial offer thinking we'd cancel at the end of the 90 days. It took me a hour on the phone to make it happen. I told the last guy, either do it and do it now or I'm going to report the card as stolen. You won't have the number to the replacement so what is it going to be? And voila it happened. Same with the trial runs on HBO, Showtime, etc premium cable pkgs. Only one time was this process easy. Amazon Prime. I signed up, recognized I'd never use the music, streaming video, books to justify it. And fast shipping was never my point. A couple of clicks and Prime was gone. Amazon rocks the digital world.

I've heard stories about how drivers glimpse the mirror, see the blue light and think they're being lit up by a following LEO

Anyone can easily call their bank and cancel the credit card and get a new one at another bank. Onstar problem done.

Easier to tell them to send an invoice and you'll pay by check.......

probably easier to get new credit card if they are billing you monthly by CC. The charges will keep coming.

My wife's 2014 Cherokee has a great feature in the rearview mirror: a little button that says "911."
The vehicle has its own cell phone that will call the emergency number at a touch.
No extra monthly charge.

But they're not. With Sirius XM, I told them what I was willing to pay, they send an invoice and we pay with a check. No CC on file...ever!

I can't believe there enough people without cell phones to justify the existence of a company like OnStar.

you missed the point. Recommendation was based on them already having one's CC#. Vultures will suck your account dry even if you are tapped. Applying for a new CC and canceling old CC will keep the vultures at bay.
