I got an email back from Mid America Motorworks and they told me the same... Trying to locate a new supplier. He did say I could out in an order now and I wouldn't be charged until they stocked it.

I just found 2 more options that are complete kits. One is from leather magic and one from the leather world. They both claim to be GM color match so I might go that route.

keep in mind the vinyl, I found out, has a protective coating....so, the gloss is a critical factor...you don't want to end up with a wide variation in gloss between the stock parts and your painted ones...especially, on interior parts that are near each other....

You can create test samples before the actual work. You may want to obtain more than one paint candidate.... Too bad we can't just brush it on..... You could get all the various gloss samples of a particular color in those $3 sample jars at the paint department...

Both of the kits I'm looking at right now recommend you brush the first layer on and spray the rest. I should have some room to practice on the driver side door panel piece. When it is reinstalled back onto the door panel you can only see a very slim piece of the top of it anyways.

I found a $10 solution that I am happy with! Works for me!
This is a PDF that includes my install of that red door material: http://netwelding.com/Red_Dash_Pad.pdf

I'm not OCD BUT I considered stain and then realized the stitching would not match the other parts!
Now APSIS in CA will recover your "spear" (if you remove and send it) with the proper color "leather" and stich it with matching GM color. However, as I mentioned a number of folks posted that their door trim did not fit flush (see pic below of a few.) One was from a dealer installed door panel and they gave up getting a "perfect" alignment.
So I considered removing the door panel, unbolting the "spear," sending in to CA for $320, getting it back and NOT having it fit perfectly was not worth the risk!

Why would the stitching not match after staining? I spoke to APSIS but no way I'm paying those prices for a recover. The passenger side is $500 to do! Not sure why that driver's side piece is causing so many alignment issues? Is there really that much play in where it sits considering it's screwed on?

Perhaps things have changed now that the 2LT comes with the upper dash pad in seat color- they copied my idea!
But I thought for sure GM would sell those door pieces in whatever color. Even got the fellow at GM wholesale parts on the net to believe he had found the part, he did but it was the same for all colors! Turns out it's the metal part without leather!
He said if you supply GM they have a contract that you won't sell parts on your own! At least 2 years ago you had to buy the whole door panel.

Has anyone painted the center console- like around where the cup holders are? I'd like to paint that gloss black.
