Lots of bad things happen when a car needs to be towed, but I'm confident that your situation is going to be good.

Oil change interval is partly time-related. My car indicated its first oil change needed at just about a year even though at that point it had low miles.

I still think it's double gasketed on the filter, common mistake

I've had a double gasket thing before as well...different car tho.

Most recently on my C7...similar leak as this one. Just days after my oil change. I had a bad filter...the filter itself was leaking. Put on a new one, they cleaned up the bottom of the car.....all good.

Wonder what the outcome was? Hopefully it was the oil filter.

Most if not all of you were right! Haha. Filter was over a full turn loose, the dealer put a new one on and inspected. All clear!! Im very happy and have been stressed out!

Now with the storm heading this way...I'm planning on going and getting it this evening and then just hosing it off in the garage when I get home. I hate to get it salty but I guess this time of year in Pa, next to impossible!

That's great news. Simple common problem, simple permanent solution. It was very wise to tow the car. You easily could have ruined the engine by trying to drive it. Anyway, glad its over with.

If the filter was that loose the person that did not tighten it most likely spilled about a pint of oil all over your engine too filling it which contributed to what ended up on you floor!

Hope you get it home from the dealer in a hurry. Nasty snow heading your way this weekend. Happy for you it was just a minor problem.
Welcome to the Forum by the way. Lots of knowledgeable and good corvette people on here. Jump on the board whenever you can, you will learn something new about your great ride every day.
Best of luck with your new baby and believe me; it's a long tough winter admiring it in the garage - SPRING IS COMING - only 60 or so days away!! --tom

When my 19 Z06 hit 480 miles I called the dealer in my area to see about getting the 500 mile oil change done since it would be under the agreement in purchase of car. I called the service rep and he asked why I was wanting an oil change at only 480 miles RED FLAG #1. I explained why and was puzzled why he was not familiar with this fact since the dealership generally has 5-7 Corvettes on the lot. I then asked if they had the pucks to lift or should I bring mine and with the car being lowered and had carbon fiber skirts and front spoiler if there would be an issue. He asked what the pucks were for RED FLAG #2. Next I asked if a Corvette Tech did the work on the change. He said the car is done by the Express Lane but they do a lot of oil changes. RED FLAG #3. Last I asked if they had the new Mobil 1 ESP/Dexos 2 0W-40. He said they had 0W-40 but did not think it was the one I was asking about. Final Red Flag. I had him switch me to parts who informed me they had 15 quarts of 0W-40 ESP/Dexos 2 on hand for $10 a quart. Told him to hold 10 for me and I would drive the 25 miles to get it. Since I have a lift I do all my own oil service and tire work. The only way I could have piece of mind was eat the free oil change and do it myself. I kept the receipts for the filter and oil to verify I had done the work if any issue should come up. The problem the OP has is 100% why I do not trust some inexperienced person (do you think they use an ASE certified mechanic?) to do this.
P.S. I was going to use a torque wrench to tighten the filter but it was going way beyond what I had already tightened by hand as I have done for 50 years and never had a leak or lost a filter.

Cowboy: You had more red flags than a road crew directing traffic. Good choice on DIY. Make sure if warranty work comes up, find another service department. -- have a good weekend -- tom

Anyway, good news is 99% of the time, on new cars, oil leaks aren't a big deal. A hose or a gasket.
Z51s don't have the center section of the front diffuser, but wet sump base cars do. It was decided it interfered with the extra brake and transmission cooling ducts that are part of the Z51 package.
