Pre-owned C7 warranty
Hey guys, I'm about to look at a 2017 GS A8, 8,800 mi. that is located out of state. I won't have time for a PPI, just the standard once-over, but it has a clean Carfax and is still under warranty for 7 months. The seller is a police officer and seems ok. As long as it looks and drives well, I'm not too worried, but is there anything that could be seriously wrong with the car that I wouldn't notice and isn't covered by warranty? It has never been tracked.

Nice set up. I just bought a used 2017 Z51 M7 last month.
The Carfax is a good start but I would follow the list below:
- get service records oil changes , battery , tire rotations from owner
- run the vin through a search on google and corvette forum to see if owner posted any issues here
- visual inspection for sure bring a flat card board box and get on the ground look at tires, undercarriage and unde the hood
Good luck with closing the deal and look into getting your own extended warranty if you plan on keeping car for any long period.

Get the vin and have your local Chevy dealer do a run to see what if any warranty work has already been done. Look for anything related to the auto trans which has been a problem.

I bought my vert used from a private owner. Pre-purchase I took the vin to the service desk at gordon chevy on blanding and the parts guy hooked me up with a printout of all the records on the car including Service history, recalls, in service date, and expiration dates of the bumper to bumper and extended warranties. Between the service records and the car fax all the oil changes were good.

I agree about trying to get all the maintainance records from the owner and having a GM dealer run a history report on the car prior to the purchase.

Thank you for all the good advice! The car is completely stock (no tune or mods) and all maintenance is up to date. The inspection was done today and came back clean as well as all the info I could dig up online. I also called my local Chevy dealer with the VIN and he reported all clear as well. I think I'll be buying it! Will post a pic once I get it shipped here. Thanks again for all the help, guys

Verbal assurances from the seller mean practically nothing. Put it in the sales agreement that the Seller affirms that he has never modified the car with a tune.
If he truly hasn't, there should be no problem having it in the sales agreement.
If he *has*, you have at least the possibility of recourse if you find out later.

What a gorgeous car. I am also new to the Corvette world, trying to learn as much as I can. I have an appointment at Les Stanford tomorrow to look at a pre-owned 2017 Grand Sport. I haven't really considered the darker colors like that one - I'm looking at a yellow one. However that graphite metallic looks incredible, and the red pinstripe on the wheel really sets it off.

What a great feeling
when you get the car you want (irrational) with all the right checks to make sure it is as sound as advertised (rational); both sides of your brain glowing, well done

The color is one of the biggest reasons I bought the car. I was never a fan of black wheels, but these with the red stripe and set on the Watkins Glen Grey look great IMO, especially with the red calipers. Good luck with yours; this is my first Grand Sport, and they rock!
