How is the reliability of Corvette Stingray Z51?
Hello guys, I owned 17 and 18 mustang GT, and I am trying to move on because its been nothing but troubles, both engines went bad and its getting bought back twice.
Now I am debating between new stingray z51 and Infiniti q60 red sport. Since I had way too much stress with Mustangs, reliability became my priority.
Can you guys tell me what to expect if I own corvette in near future? Common issues especially power train? I heard lifter is the common issue(correct me if I am wrong) how are the build quality? I have suffered from interior and seat rattle on my 18 GT.
Would be great if you guys can give me your options. Thank you.

I currently own a '15 Z51 M7 and I have had almost no problems. The roof does creak a bit, but I just put some O rings on the bolts and it definitely sounds better. I'm at 41k miles and no major issues so far. I can't say the same for the autos. I have also owned a '05 G35 6MT. It had a lot of rattles coming from the dash, vents and sunroof. I drove that one for 50k miles and sold it for the Corvette. I don't really have any knowledge on the newer models.

I’ve got a 16 z51 M7 coupe. 2LT with MRC. So far other than routine service it had a control arm bushing squeak that was replaced before I bought it. Now at 24 k miles. No other issues.

Bought my '14 Z51 M7 new, sold it at 52K miles and only had one issue the entire 4 years I owned it (center screen replaced under warranty during 1st year)
Perfect otherwise

Automatic 8 speed automatic warble/shudder
3LT dasboard leather lifting up
14-15 model had slow infotainment response. Sometimes screen would flash intermittently.
GS model has issue with bent wheels.
You will find plenty of thread on this forum in details on what to expect if you buy a Corvette.

I owned a 2015 Z51 Vert. Many problem, but GM took care of all. Had the TC problems, warped rotors on all 4 wheels, and failing paint on all the wheels. I was very happy with the car after the problems were taking care of!
I now have a 2017 ZO6. Has about 17K miles on it, with NO problems. It is a GREAT car! Fun to drive!
You will enjoy whatever you get!

For me once I knew the C7 was the right car I drove a bunch, researched repair histories and selected a low mile used car that met the majority of my criteria and my budget. You are on the right track and the forum is a good place for a lot of info but as one who was just in your shoes I can also tell you there is also some that is confusing and a lot that will be biased toward one specific car or another. If you can narrow it a bit I and am sure others will chime in to help ease the search and anxiety that can cause.

16 Z51. Had all 4 rotors replaced, center console replaced, been in for the A8 torque converter twice, center screen stops working sporatically, Fun car overall but don't consider the 8 speed at all. Was thinking about a Z06 but the Torque converter issue kinda cured that for me. I would go with the M7 but its not 1985 anymore and I shouldn't have to settle for that to get a car that operates as it should.

A lot depends on how the car has been driven. Has it been tracked or drag raced or just cruised around in. I don't have the Z51 but my '16 auto is in the shop for a new rear end. I bought it used but it looked like brand new with only 6300 miles in 2 years. I think GM got some bad rear ends (whiney) but it's being taken care of. Other than that the car is tight, rattle or buzz free and runs great .

Had a 16'... other than the typical screen blacking out stuff .. the TC issue was the only blem in the perfection I came to see .. what a car .. had a base ...big difference ( I had the mag shocks)... would definitely consider getting them !!

Loving it.
Have had my 2017 Z51 Coupe 1LT M7 for a year and 10k miles as my daily driver(5 mile one-way commute) and VIR visitor. Car was produced Oct '16, sat on Les Stanford's lot for a year and bought new last year.
It looks like this is one of the least troublesome combinations:
- 2017 Z51 M7 has no AFM valves vs previous years
- 2017 Z51 has extra cooling vs previous years
- M7 doesn't have A8 issues
- Z51 doesn't have bent wheel issues
- 1LT has no leather dash issues
- No torque tube issue
- No screen issue
Only issue fixed under warranty to date was a bad belt tensioner.
I drive spiritedly and the stock thin 5W-30 oil was consumed more than usual, but once I switched to the new 0W-40 Mobil 1 oil, oil consumption is not an issue.
Keep it simple.
