Question--------
why does everybody on the forum think that Expel is superior to 3M? Just got my new Silverado High Country and had 3M put on it and it looks great. Was told it is also self healing

Everyone has an opinion but I've had 2 different Corvettes done in Xpel Ultimate and my latest one done in Xpel Ultimate Plus. And while I've been very happy with Xpel, the last time I used 3M was over 10 years ago and I'm sure it's changed since then.
And yes, the Xpel Ultimate (and Plus) is self healing and swirl marks/light scratches disappear when the film warms (20 minutes in 70 degree temps or above does it)

Because people with 3M complain about people with Xpel. Seriously though, what's your beef?

I've had Xpel in the past on my ZL1 was very happy. This time I decided to go with Suntek, which I'm also very happy. In my opinion I think the Suntek pops a little more with less orange peel look. Now this is just my opinion so lets not everyone blow up on me. If I remember correctly back in the day 3M was the first with the PPF' film in those days the adhesive would start yellowing and your film would look yellow. Now the technology has changed so much I heard all that is supposed to be in the past. So maybe people think less of 3M and don't trust the name anymore.3M was King of PPF at one time, another thing is maybe they need to advertise more. These are all just me guessing so take it with a grain of salt. You should just call a bunch of installers and ask them what they think is the difference between Xpel, Suntek and 3M.

I have 3M and it works for me. 88,000 miles and no rock chips. I would probably go with Xpel the next time because a lot of the forum users like it. But then again a lot of the forum users change their oil every 3,000 miles. So just because someone here says it's the best doesn't make it so. Do some google searches for what it the best and you get a lot of different answers. As long it is installed correctly I think any of them are good. There is a lot of purchase bias on forums. If someone bought it and uses it, it must be the best. Right?
And one other thing. The installers will tell you what ever they use is the best. Take it to the bank.

I've never had either on my cars. Haven't really needed it. The costs are just too high for what you get.

I’ve had 3M on the C5, but have used Xpel on my Impala and now on my C7. Honestly I have been pleased with both, but my installer carries both and recommended Xpel as the one to go with.
