The sweet sound of the engine note with the top down is simply EXHILARATING.

First of all -- "Welcome to the Forum" - I agree completely all the C7's look good. I have a coup, but am currently looking for a Z-convertible to try out the waters on the rag top side.

Post some pics of your new GS (you bought the right color) LOL - tom

What a great photo Elmer. And, everyone knows that Red is the fastest color.

I prefer the coupe because it looks good all the time, while IMO the convertible only looks good with the top down but with the top up it doesn't look that great.

As you get older (now 70), the word "Instant" means a lot more. Push a button and the top is down. (Although the manual top in my former C5 was a lot faster). No need to unlatch the hard top, take it off with old, achy arms and store it away, or worry about it blowing off if I forgot to latch it properly. "Let the tool do the work" I've always told my son. So push a button and be done with it.

When I want to go for a drive and feel the breeze, have the sun on my hat (not my head since the hair is now "clear") and listen to that nice sound of 460 HP-NPP exhaust, convertible is the only way to go.

Top is up in the garage (rats and geckos) but as soon as she comes out, top is down for a nice beach drive, going through the auto-8 gears. (Actually at that speed, usually only the first four).

On a really hot day down here in sunny mid-Gulf Florida for a longer highway trip, probably top up. Very quiet with some smooth jazz or ambient playing softly in the background.

Easier to do the "Corvette Wave" with the top down too. Bob

with all of that. I live in the LA area, so my top is almost always down (14 crystal red vert, chrome wheels, 3LT Kalahari, Z51, NPP, MSRC, M7) and I just turned 74 on Christmas.

V Vette,

Although, I love convertibles, I prefer my coupe over the vert, simply because there are additional strengths built in the coupe's frame ie. (roll bar)? Also, added weight of the convertible may effect your performance driving, ie. (body flexing)?
I usually drive with my top off, getting some or all of the benefits of a convertible.

Many thanks,

Ray

Your photo is absolutely out standing! Moreover, your Z is immaculate.

Many thanks,

Ray that is so cool, thanks! Im with you and they are both great cars but being a design snob, the coupe is sharp with top on/off while the Vert is so cool with top down. I also need the room for groceries, tennis and 2x4'... Thanks Again...V

Both are stunning in their own way...
IMO the 'vert with the top down is more pleasing than the coupe with the targa removed, BUT with the tops on, the coupe wins the appearance test hands down...
Practically speaking, my use of a 'vert is limited to two months each in the fall and spring, meaning top up for most of the year...

Definitely coupe!
Although I have never rolled a car or had anything more than a fender bender in my over 40 years of driving, I do occasionally like to make use of my Z51's abilities. I will take any increase in structural integrity I can get.

Interesting point. I live on the east coast with 4 seasons. Top down is more limited here. Does that affect your decision?

You might have a point about location. I live in Jacksonville Florida and the top down season is more like 10 down 2 up (rain doesn't count). A longer window to actually drive the car may be a strong point for the choice of coupe or convertible.
