Srsly, with four gas guzzlers, no EV, it’s a pleasure and no downside for me to drive my ‘17 Z06 M7 the way I want and get the mileage I do, considering it replaced a car that got 9-10 mpg.

I have a feeling your sarcasm meter detector might need a tune up! I usually watch my gas mileage as an engine issue measurement. Gas mileage takes a dump, something's wrong with the car.

I think that real men don't feel like they need to do what everyone else thinks they should do.

I'd rather drive a Corvette in eco mode* than a Prius in sport mode

*disclaimer-I never actually drive mine in eco mode, I leave it in sport mode all the time but because it's an A8, the AFM will activate frequently and it doesn't bother me. It's just like having a 9th gear IMO, the power is ready the instant I need it

Arguing is silly...good thing I never do it...

All kidding aside...Im amazed to read so many folks can "feel" the switch between V8 and V4. In my M7 I literally have to watch my dash to even know it went into V4 mode...and even then I feel nothing. I wonder why that is from one car to another?

Performance doesn't seem degraded in Eco mode, at least as far as my butt dyno can discern. V4 disengages at the slightest throttle input, so when you need the power you can count on it delivering.

Not sure what you mean as my Toyota gives me power when I need it too.... but people here want 500, 600, 700HP for street use (and that's fine) but then talk about saving gas money , makes no sense... PS does the Z06 and ZR1 have ECO mode?

I’m trying to think what else we can argue about. Tire pressure! That’s it! I run 30psi because that’s what it says on the door jam. Why am I wrong or right or wrong or right or wrong? Maybe I shouldn’t use my Sirius radio because it’s not manly enough. W.T.F.

What I mean is that I can't tell the difference between Eco and other modes in terms of engine performance, and when in V4 mode it can switch back to V8 in a heartbeat. To me that's a win-win, a few more MPG when cruising and when you punch it the 460 hp is unleashed in less than a heartbeat. I don't see a downside to it.

If you want some fireworks, start a thread on oil.

Well, I can't attest to your manliness, but you can get a few mpg from bumping up your psi.

I agree. As I've said before I simply see it as having an extra gear in the transmission. It allows you to get better MPG on the highway but the instant you need the power, it'll come back. But a lot of people on here just can't wrap their heads around having their engine running on only 4 cylinders, that's the real issue here.

I know that the ZR1 doesn't use AFM but the Z06 does.

Sport mode still goes into V4 mode. If you put the shifter into manual mode V4 will not engage.

That's why I like the M7. It won't switch to V4 mode in any other setting other than Eco.
