Both times mine went bad, it sounded just like that.

I do have a question, though.

Do they fail eventually? or do they just make increasingly horrendous noise?

I ask because the second time mine starting making noise @ 99,000 miles was while I was at the furthest point away from home on a 1500 + mile trip to Columbia, SC to meet Mr.owc6 on a business trip He flew, I drove ). While in Greenville, SC for a weekend, it started making noise, we drove back to Columbia, as the noise increased, and low and behold, Florence reared her ugly head, so it was (for me--Mr.owc6 had to stick it out) either stick it out as well, drive home, or hope that the local Chevy dealer had the part (as I already knew what the issue was) and then book it!

I showed up at Herndon Chevrolet, and told them I was pretty sure what was going on, and could they help me get back to Maryland before the hurricane, or would I have to park it and wait it out with Mr.owc6? They had the part in stock, and I was on my way in about an hour. Covered under warranty (barely).

Kudos to Herndon Chevrolet!

I have changed mine twice, I definitely recognize the whine in your video. The good news, it's relatively easy to change and even though mine was under waranty the first time, I changed it myself. Takes less than an hour. For me, they have lasted around 40K miles each.

I had the dealer swap it out under warranty. They had the part in stock and did it in a day. Problem solved. If it happens again, I'll do the same.
