2019 Special Edition Announcement Coming!

Probably more tape stripes, embroidery, etc. like the recent special editions. Maybe an exclusive color. Can't imagine any mechanical changes this late in the game. Question will be is it available on all models or on GS/Z06/ZR1 only? That will be one way to generate some interest in the C7 for the rest of the year. This has been rumored for some time and finally announced. I would imagine a timeline will be stated as well for the plant shutdown in advance of C8 production.
Oh boy... I just can't wait for GM to disappoint us all again!

Could this be a clue?
"Also located inside the track and next to Victory Lane, the Chevrolet Experience Center will have a number of additional Chevrolet production vehicles and product specialists throughout the Rolex 24 weekend. Fans can walk through the Experience Center and see models such as four special edition Corvette Grand Sport coupes, Corvette Z06, Camaro ZL1 and Silverado".

Every Corvette "special edition" in memory has been a vinyl stripe package and *maybe* a 'special' paint color, or 'special' color stitching.
The fact that GM has supposedly said there will be "4" of the "Special Editions" makes me think it will be 4 separate "color-centric" packages, similar to the 4 "special edition" Silverado pickups that they tried that were basically color-theme editions ("Black", "White", "Red", etc). Riles up some interest with practically no investment other than commercial time and some re-sequencing of the automated assembly process.
If GM really goes on the wild side, perhaps we will see the ZR1 rear wing package made available for one of the "Special Edition" packages. Intra-model parts swapping tends to go full out towards the end of a generation.

(nothing says "Ricer" more than a ridiculous wing on the street)

I don't think you understand the meaning of the term "ricer." Something that actually improves the performance of your car is the complete opposite of "rice."

C7R Corvette Racing Team Drivers
How about doing what they did for Ron Fellows with the white ZO6 in 2007, and again in 2008 for Wil Cooksey with the Z44 coded 427 special edition Crystal Red ZO6...... and maybe have the current C7R winning Corvette Racing Team drivers (Milner, Magnusson, etc.) commemorated with their own editions?!
They could also sign and number the inside of the armrest cover, just like Ron and Wil did in their special editions above!
Now that would be cool.
I believe that all of the 300 Ron Fellows and 427 (ironic number) Cooksey Special Editions sold out quickly.

GM should look into Porsche's philosophy when it comes to creating limited edition Corvette's cause as of now they've been clueless and just been making mostly cheesy & tacky sticker add-ons.

Burning Brakes
I Feb 2008 I got a "special edition" Audi A4 Avant - the end of the B7 run.
The SE items were different cooler wheels and metallic paint as "standard" vs. extra cost items.
I hope any C7 Special Edition is a fitting tribute to the end of the line...…..or is it the end of the line?
