Default Side Mirrors- Painted or Black?

I noticed on many of the great Vette picts that some of us have matching painted mirrors while other have black. Not sure if this was an option but curious who has what and if you selected it by choice?

I opted for body color mirrors. I love the white/black theme on my car, but looking at other white cars with black mirrors, it just didn't look good to me. I know others have different taste, and more power to them.

It's an option to have them black carbon flash for $100.

To me - black just looks like it was add on, not stock.

^^^ I can understand that. That is why I liked the body colored mirrors, as they continued the flow of the color on the body of the car.

I prefer black. It adds more contrast. And matches with the A pillars.

Another color preference choice as the Carbon Flash mirrors match up to other Carbon Flash trim and aero. Since I have an Arctic White Z06 coupe with the Shark Gray vent option, I kept mine body-colored. Growing up, it always seemed like the least-expensive trim for most car models had black plastic mirrors and body-color mirrors were only added to higher-level trims. Probably a silly bias, but something that has stuck with me.

Plus, I have a set of Speed Lingerie black mirror covers that I use for long highway trips so I can always add those if I want the look.

Wish I had gotten black mirrors! They would have looked awesome against the torch red body and dark transparent top.

Personally, I prefer mirrors painted the body color as they are necessary but not a particularly good looking component that I want to draw attention too. Best to blend-in as opposed to draw your eye at a glance IMO.

I love the contrast and ordered mine black for my AW GS. Of course, I don't have any chrome on my car and opted for all black options (stripes, badging, mirrors, side skirts, spoilers, etc.). Even replaced the chrome lugnts. It's an aggressive look that I was going for.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure gets a LOT of attention.

I really like the contrast of the carbon flash mirrors and spoiler on my blade silver car. I think it breaks up the monotony of the long silver expanse along the side of the car.

My mirrors are torch red like the rest of the car and that was the way I wanted it when I bought the car. That being said, I put a Novistretch bra and mirror covers on this past summer and I was surprised at how much I liked the look. From a short distance they looked like black painted mirrors. If I ever get another C7 I might opt for the carbon flash mirrors.

It depends on the car and the options. If the car has a lot of black (either CF or Carbon flash) I think it looks great. If the car has chrome wheels and little carbon flash I like the body colored mirrors. I have had quite a few positive comments on my black mirrors, but I think it is because the has a lot of black on it (roof, spoiler, side skirts, splitter, scoops and wheels.

Thanks for the complement. It has been under wraps since the beginning of November when we got our first snow. It will stay there until the end of April. They are calling for 1 to 2 feet tomorrow so it sucks to have my everyday driver sitting outside.

I'd say it depends on the color and other mods on your car. My car originally came with body colored mirrors which I preferred at first, but when I started modifying I swapped them out for carbon flash to better match everything else. Personal preference really. Both are good looking, with neither being drastically so.
