90% of the dealers who order cars for stock are clueless? They wonder why cars sit in inventory so long? I also choose to be different?

Same reason new houses are all eggshell white inside. People have no imagination and can't picture things that are not.
Black is boring as hell but people buy it. I've had the same dozen everyone else had, then had to branch out. So I've got three blue interior, a red interior, a Kona Escalade interior, and so on. I really want to avoid another boring black interior unless it's for resale.
And I say that as the owner of what I think is one of the best ALL black interiors - the Range Rover Autobiography with the $10,000.00 leather upgrade! I didn't spec it like that, it was a custom order and I scooped it up when the depositor bailed.
Anyway, here's an example of what you can do with color.
We used to all walk around in the same black suit as well don't forget!

I wonder if GM gives a discount to dealers that order Corvettes with all black interior? I know color is a personal thing but I do not like black interior in any car. You will notice that on most high end and even low end SUVs and cars there is a pretty good choice of a bright cheerful color for the interior. So why is it that 90 + % of cars online at big Corvette dealers are all black interior? Must be cheaper to make black interior than bright colors?
Then I bought a 3LT 2014 and bought the Kalahari interior which looked great. But GM got cheap in 2016 and made the 3LT look like a patch-work quilt, IMO. When I bought my 2017 Grand Sport would have purchased a 3LT again BUT not what was offered unless I wanted Spice Red, which retained the 2014/2015 full color look. But, I did not want Spice Red. Was ready to buy a 2LT Black but wife liked the 2LT Red. Less color but doesn't look patchwork.
What I wonder is why anyone would buy what the "dealer" thinks you want when you can buy exactly what you want at a lower price from Kerbeck and other high volume forum dealers? My Grand Sport was ordered from Kerbeck, and delivered to a Chevy dealer 30 miles away who accepted Courtesy Delivery. Got the exact options I wanted including both exterior and interior colors, machined face aluminum wheels, painted calipers, carbon flash badges, Stage 2 Aero option (to get full length carbon fiber side skirts, painted carbon flash) and it was delivered from Bowling Green to the local dealer. That only cost $250 extra and Kerbeck had much better prices than the local dealers, far less than the $250. Got the same discount that they offer for the ~$200 cars they have in stock.

Kalahari was the deciding factor for my car, looked a several and all had black or even worse... red Found my current vette with Kalahari suede and was such a deciding factor that I bought an exterior color I originally didn't want, but Torch Red and Kalahari are a perfect pair IMO.

I wouldn't buy a new C7 that didn't have Jet Black interior. Same with M7 and convertible. If not all 3, it's a dealbreaker. As JerryU wrote; the
two tone dashes and colors are "patchworked."

Because they all know I prefer black interiors.

Seats, dash and doors aside, black carpet is the way to go with these cars.
Black helps to hide the material GM chose. Yes it’s a nit.

When a dealer purchases a car for their lot, there is some risk. Buying black reduces the risk.
Also, there are good reasons black interiors are 'best / most common / most desirable'...they look newer, longer, and are easier to keep clean. They also go with any exterior color. Oh, I have a black interior so it must best.

Something no-one has mentioned is the 2LT/LZ dashboards have the strip of seat colored leather across the top. It has a tendency to reflect on the windshield in bright light. Distracting for me.

Bought Lloyd's black mats for my 2014 Z51 and when I sold it removed them and installed the original and put them in my Grand Sport. Much better material and very durable.

from my very first car at age 17, through my late 30's... all I would have is black interior; and my friends were the same.
Now though, it's the last choice on my list. I do like that Corvettes generally are a mix in interior colors; my gray interior has some black accents throughout.
