Default Power supply for underhood light

Anybody have any suggestions on where to tap into power for a supply to an underhood light? I see fuse 14 is for the glovebox - I assume for the glovebox light. The underhood light will be a small LED so there should be little current draw when the light is in use and I doubt that the glove box light will ever be on at the same time.

Just thinking:With all cellphones having a flashlight and a C7 not really having much trouble. That mod could be well..Useless? They also are a very small light that you can't move around to pinpoint a area to see.

You could run the wiring to the positive bolt on the fuse box and use an in-line fuse.

^^^ This, or as you suggested, the glove box fuse should work.

I’ve seen some pretty elaborate lighting under hood at car shows, where chromed EVERYTHING isn’t enough. The owners will attach a variety of LED strips along the valve cover for that extra BLING.

For the '17 Stingray, it appears that power is available under the hood at the Fuse Block... B+ indicates battery power

That is the best spot with plenty of power and no wires having to go into the fuse box.

Pic shows how to access, just remove the plastic cover in front of the fuse panel. Note: DO NOT remove that nut! Just get another nut and use a ring terminal on the positive wire. There are some nice inline fuses that take small spade fuses and have a rubber cover. Any bolt can be used as for the ground. To make it look OEM, use some small diameter plastic wire loom to route to the underhood light.

Just a thought, but the glove box is an electric one that has valet lockout. So the glove box fuse may do more than just operate the light.

I like the using the fuse panel bolt with a second nut. I have several weatherproof inline fuse holders that I have used on my other vehicles.

The retractable light was from a GMC 3500 van I found in the junkyard. Actually I have two of them. You can also find them on ebay. Not certain if I will use the retractable unit or two GM stationary types.

BTW I will use the light for checking around the engine at night time. I have two stationary type lights under the hood on my F150. I don't like to use the light on my iphone,
