I hope there will not be an extra-charge for these "Special Editions". If anything there should be a special group package discount, cheaper than spec-ing out all the same equipment. If we learned anything from the Collector Edition GS is that there will be very little demand, especially not at sticker price, if anything they will need to be discounted just like the rest of the fleet, maybe more. SMH. Looks like Chevy is desperate to buy time before the C8.

There already is one. It’s a Z06.

Does anyone think that some of the 'inventory' 2019's already sitting on the lots will be 'taped up' so they can be sold as Special Editions??? Is this a way to move some of that inventory that's sitting on the lots before the C8's are released???

I would have considered buying a new GS with a power bump. But to pay more because Someone else gets to pick the color........

There is no way in hell GM is going to go to the expense of emission certifying a new engine package this late in the game. All the resources for anything new are going to go into the mid-engine car.

Exactly! That's why we had to assume the 'special edition' would be comprised of the usual tape/plaque to differentiate it from standard models. Not worth the effort, in my opinion.

I sure do not see much special, about these special editions. Should have been at least a unique color, or something else unique about the car.

I sat down last week and was writing a thread about things I was hoping to see from what we are expecting to be the last special edition front engine Corvette. I thought they might do a proper send off for the front engine with things like an array of favorite colors from the past 66 years of front engine Corvette production, a preview of the upgraded LT1 in the GS, and I was really dreaming when I thought they might send off the ZR1 (and preferably the Z06) on top with a GT2 killing PDE package including things like DSSV shocks (it is still crazy to me that you can get these in a Camaro and even a Colorado but not the flagship!), PS Cup 2R's, etc but I just walked away because I had a sneaking suspicion that it would be paint and stickers.
What a joke, these don't even feature a unique paint. They are just cars that were built from the regular options list, the GM Authority article says it best: "Three of the four cars have sat parked at the Chevrolet Experience Center at Daytona since the Roar Before the 24 took place. Clearly, no one thought anything of them."

It's really embarrassing that the Corvette team makes so many half assed cheapy tack-on sticker "special edition" Corvette's. This lack of effort does not belong in a Corvette! Either they don't care or they have no clue on what a "special or limited edition" means! They should emulate Porsche when it comes to creating limited editions. I hope this mickey-mouse approach stops with the C8!!

Won't happen, it's GM, not Porsche. Accountants love stickers, they're cheap, but not to the ultimate consumer.

I too am under-whelmed with the special edition offerings, but I suspect this was a last-minute decision by GM, prompted by the delay of the C8. A more powerful engine or suspension upgrades would have been preferable, but those things take time to develop and test. GM didn't have time to develop that type of "special edition". I believe the delay in C8 release may have taken them somewhat by surprise and this is a last-ditch effort to revive sales of the C7 platform. It may have been better to do nothing, instead let the mystique of the mid-engine simmer just a bit longer, keep the masses in suspense a little longer.

just send sticker kits to dealers and you have special edition cars

add $10k to a new sticker and you sell 5,000 new cars ,instead of them just sitting on dealer lots

I've been gone a few years now and was thinking about jumping back in for one of these C7 DSSE GS cars, but now... If I do, I think it may have to be a "Save-$10K-Pick-Your-Own-Colors-Edition"
