Aero plate holder
Hello,
Installed the "aero" plate holder, tightened the plastic screws to secure but the plate holder still had 1/2 " side to side movement. What did I do wrong ?? I was able to remove it, not an easy task.
Thank you in advance,
Rich K ( Vette Ski )
P.S, I read the previous posts on the install but saw nothing that said anything about this.

I noticed the same on my GS but didn't have the issue on my Z51. I assume it's the different grill opening sizes
Either way, I just ignore it... doesn't affect anything and doesn't make noise

Thank you. Seems like it will eventually wear the paint on the grill. I suspected I had it installed improperly. I removed it, looked to see where I went wrong, looked like that was the only way it should go. Guess I'll reinstall it or look into an aftermarket holder first. Which one are you folks happiest with??
Thanks ever so much again!!

You should be aware that their is one aero panel for the Stingray grill and a different aero panel for the Z06 grill.
The correct aero panel fit just fine on my stock Stingray grill with no side movement. When I changed to the Z06 grill, and mounted the correct aero panel for the Z06, the fit was just as you experienced.
I've had mine mounted for 2 years and 20k miles and at track speeds up to 130 and on some pretty bad roads, it has never been an issue. On close examination, I find no significant wear marks on the grill anywhere.
Assuming you are using the correct aero panel, you may be over thinking this. It's just not a problem. Mount it, forget about it and enjoy the ride.

The aero panels are different. The part # on the back of my GS panel is 22830070.
The part # for the Z51 type grill is 22830069. The attachment screws are also different.
On my 15 stingray the panel did not move back and forth like it did on my 17 GS.
I used a ty rap to help hold it in place until I got the holder from Top Flight Reproductions.

Well, it appears I have the correct AeroPanel AND scrivets but there is still slop.....hmmm....

My 17 GS has the same issue of "slop" of the AP in the grille. I put some stick on foam insulation in the area that butts up against the vertical bars. No more slop. Probably didn't really make any real difference but it bothered me.

Didn't know there was two different aero plates, depending on the C7 model you have. I know the one I got for my Stingray is rock solid. Have to wonder why the GS plate holder would not tighten down as secure as the base car one does.
