I have a Grand Sport and I out drove a few of the Z06's at Spring Mountian. Would I love the extra power, yes. 460 HP on the street is plenty.

It's toooooo easy to fly with the extra power.
460 HP will "Help" keep you out of trouble.
My old 427 had me loose my license not once but twice in 2 years and I'm a 60 YO
guy with thining hair, Cop will still write you up.....

I’m just getting to positive points on my DL bc I rode crouch rockets, so I certainly don’t need any more crazy insurance bills.

I was in a similar dilemma earlier today as I was considering the move to the GS or Z06. My reasons for picking GS over Z06:

- I don't race
- I don't track
- Here in Canada, road laws are strict. There's nowhere for me to use the extra 200hp to 100 kmph
- Both had the wide body I liked
- Definitely prefer the GS wheels to the Z06 wheels
- Prefer the GS side vent to the Z06 side vent
- Lower Insurance

- Cheaper by about 18k here in Canada

I'm leaning towards the GS for all these reasons. Quite simply, sure it's nice to have the power available but if I'm going to be using it ever so rarely, it's not worth it.

I wish I would have bought the z06. I have a 17 GS convertible and at times it just doesn’t have power I had hoped it would. At the time of my purchase, I found the exact same color and transmission in the z06, but it was 30k more and I could not justify it. For 15k more, I would be happy to have it today.

I think the z06 was a 3 LT where as my GS is a 2LT.

I chose the Grand Sport for all the same reasons you did! Not sure how much more the insurance would have been here in N.J( I did not inquire about it ) but i'm sure it would have been a bunch more!

I was also looking at the monthly payments and it would have been $300 more per month on top of the insurance increase. It just wasn't worth it to me.

Buy it and drive it like you stole it.

That said, DO NOT ever drive a Z06 or ZR1. It is better not to know. I made that mistake - luckily before I ordered the GS. So my kid can’t go to private school now. I’m ok with that.

IMO, the GS is the best of both worlds.

Then again, get a Z06 so you can use the extra performance...

lol. I was there for that... Z06 or not what he did was the cause. Not the power. He's my best friend. He wears that one proudly lol

You know whats fun about having a Z06? See the Lambos in those pics? We beat them with these cars. And with his Z06 being modded he put buses on them. I was surprised my CAI stock tune Z06 could beat a Huracan but to my amazement it did. Multiple times. Just pulled away from it. LT4 AND the A8 amazes me.

that's the thing that makes me happy. KNOWING you can do it having done it. Because had I owned a GS and got pulled (which it would have been a slaughter) i would have a blower on it next time and why bother? Spend the money now and be done.

Similar question to everyone but a little different. I went from an 07 Z06 to a 10 ZR1 and now I'm considering getting into a C7 simply because I love the interior compared to the C6 and the new features and technology are sort of a big deal for me.

I am the type who always wants the most HP I can get. But obviously we have all heard of the problems with the Z06. Over heating issues, small supercharger, etc... Whether they are blown out of proportion who knows.

I would use this car as a weekend car only and it would strictly be street driven. I would never take it on the track. Would anyone advise getting a Grand Sport and then throwing some money at it to mod it as opposed to just starting with the Z06? I'm just having a tough time debating. The Grand Sport would be roughly $15,000 cheaper which to me is somewhat of a big deal. If I got the Z06 I'd be tapped out for some time. Whereas if I got the Grand Sport I could get a newer model, lower miles, more options and have money left over to do some mods here and there. My ultimate goal would be somewhere around 650rwhp.

I do a lot of autox and compete with Z06's. The extra power is too much for sutox. The lighter weight GS stops better and turns better. If it's a tight course I win. If it's fast and wide open I have to be on my A game to win.

Modding a GS makes zero sense - it diminishes the value of the GS, makes it much harder to sell later and voids the warranty; and the mods (presumably adding a blower) would save you very little over just spending the additional $12k for the Z06.

I always loved the Z06 look, just never wanted the Supercharged engine. So when the GS came out, I snagged one.
