The NPP exhaust vs non NPP
So last night I was driving home, and I happened to come across another Stingray. It was pretty funny we were both 30 year old women, laughing that it was an unusual sight. Anyways, hers was a 19,and mine is a 14. So the girl took off pretty quickly, and it did not sound the same as mine. I noticed that she did not have the NPP exhaust, which I have on mine. What a huge difference in sound quality coming from the basic exhaust vs the performance. I was actually really shocked at the difference between the richness of the NPP exhaust, and the tingy sound of the regular exhaust. It almost sounded like a V6 Camaro. Just thought it was really interesting to hear them side-by-side.

You learn something new everyday... I did not know that exhaust tips are different from NPP to non-NPP... Anyone have a photo on non-NPP to show the difference?
I have NPP and these are mine (I have a 2014 Z51):

If you think that the NPP sounds good, you should check out some of the aftermarket systems, i.e., Corsa.

None NPP are not fluted. The pipes look more like straight tips not beveled like the NPP.

It’s funny how many c7 owners don’t or didn’t know how quiet the non npp exhaust is.
I just spent the last year driving a base C7 with no NPP. I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying my new Z 51....The difference between a base car with no npp and Z 51 is unbelievable!

Cocovette,
Perhaps, the other corvette party was in economy/touring mode and thus, was in V4 mode?= V6 Camaro sound.
Besides the sound difference, how can you tell whether its NPP or not?
(Note: Later in this thread a forum member shows photos, that compares the two exhausts).
I can only tell by the increased gap between the two inner exhaust tips?
Any other obvious differences?
Many thanks,
Ray

The local Chevy dealer is a top 10 Corvette dealer. All there floor model/in stock cars have NPP. It's the only mandatory option. If you want non-NPP, it's a special order.

Sounds like a 6-cyl Camaro? Really? You've not listened to my neighbor's pos Cama everyday for the last year... nothing similar, imho.

Never had a base car so can't compare... but hearing the difference between Touring and the other modes with my Z51's NPP exhaust is enough for me to recommend this option to anyone seeking a C7. Adding the Borla X-pipe is another upgrade as the difference in modes is enhanced but not over the top or annoying (no drone). In fact I can't tell the x-pipe is there in Touring mode, it sounds nearly stock but once you twist the **** things sound awesome. Further proof was per my wife at my first track day she could tell our car (in Track mode of course) sounded better then other C7s zipping by.
