C7 for teenage daughter
I know some of you are going to think I'm crazy but wanted some feedback. I am thinking about getting my daughter a 19' C7 but I'm having second thoughts. She's only 17 and has been driving a Lexus RC350 for a year. She really wants a corvette but I don't want to be doing something wrong. She's had zero issues with her driving. I monitor her driving through an app that alerts me to high speed, rapid acceleration, hard stops etc. I figured all cars can go fast and we live in south Florida so there's so much traffic you can't really do much. I don't know just looking for some thoughts.

May I ask what your daughter did to earn a Corvette at 17 years old? Did she get accepted into a top tiered college with a full ride? Did she get accepted into the Olympics? Or is Daddy rich and this is the next toy for his daughter? I say this with no disrespect. Im not faulting ANYONE for what the do for their children - there are way too many deadbeat parents out there these days, so I commend you for being a loving parent that obviously provides outstandingly for his family...but did you ever think what's next for her? Let's fast forward 10 years from now when Daddy isn't paying for her toys anymore and she's working a real job that maybe can't afford the next hot new sports car, or shoes, or spa day... What is your daughter going to feel then? What will she be excited to work towards or look forward to, because at 17 she already had one of the best cars on the road...?
I grew up in a very wealthy town, and my father did extremely well for himself...but he taught me to EARN the finer things in life, so I would learn to appreciate them. To me you have to EARN a high priced toy like a Vette...or you will NEVER appreciate it.

I got my daughter at 17 a Pontiac Trans Am. 25 years later she told me she had the 2nd fastest car in school. A Mustang was faster, I said why didn't you tell me, I'd have fixed that issue for you. LOL

Maybe not in Effort, PA (your signature) as a DD, but South Florida should be a little better. There is certainly a learning curve for young drivers... and someone might be more cautious knowing that they are being monitored by an app. If you get the Vette, I’d keep the app.

Well I’m going to be the spoiler here, the RC350 is a great looking car. I would not trade or sell the RC for the Corvette for your teenage daughter. That’s just my opinion.

I went through the same issues of what car to buy my 16 year old daughter.
I wanted to buy her a new Jeep wrangler but my wife looked up the safety rating and pointed out it only had 3 stars out of 5.
The more I thought about it I never wanted to second guess that I didn't buy my daughter the safest car possible.
So I went with the 5 star Jeep Grand Cherokee.
It's all about safety man.....

We don't know your daughter and her character so we can't make an informed judgement but I'll say this... If my father gave me a Corvette at 17 I'd be dead before my 18th birthday. At that age my ability to make sound judgement decisions, and foreseeing the consequence of those decisions, was so underdeveloped I would have been doomed from the start. Hell, I'd street race my Mom's 6 cylinder Ford Fairlane. Sounds like your daughter probably has a better head than I had at that age.

IMO,if you start them out driving a car with power they will learn to control it earlier.
It's the kids that drive a Civic,then move up to power are many times the ones that have wrecks.

Brian, it all depends on how reliable and responsible your daughter is. Just because she wants a Corvette shouldn't mean that she gets a Corvette. There are responsibilities with owning a car.....let alone a Corvette.

Get her signed up for a high performance driving school run by professional instructors.
We took our daughter to one when she was 3 months shy of getting her license at age 16 (she had a permit and they agreed to let her attend if I signed off) and she's now 27 with no tickets or accidents.
She had her car (1999 Mitsubishi Gallant GTZ at the time) up to 110 at the track during the class at the Nashville Superspeedway! The instructor, after getting out of the car on her last track run, told me "she has big b*lls!" LOL!

If she is working two jobs and "really wants a Corvette", let her earn it.

I dearly love my daughter. She attracted (and still attracts) plenty of attention.
No way in the world would I have bought her high performance vehicle at 17.
Worries would include fellas trying to get her attention while driving down the road, certainly a distraction for all involved.
I kinda like the jeep Grand Cherokee idea, though.

Both my sons want a Corvette, and they will probably get one... When they buy it for themselves.. It is great to have dreams and wants and it makes it so much more enjoyable when we make those dreams come true.. took me 35 years for my dream of owning a corvette
