Vette song for Vets
I happened to run across this song in my music collection. I'm sure that you old Geezer Vette drivers and Vets like me who served during Vietnam will greatly appreciate this. I'm sure all Vets, no matter what conflict you served in, will also identify with this too. For you younger Vette drivers this will show you that us old geezers were once young Vette drivers too!

Thank you for reminding me of that very moving song. I'd heard it years ago. It truly brought tears to my eyes at the thought that Private Malone never made it home to live the American dream. My father was a lifer in the Air Force and served as an MP. My favorite picture of him is one where he's in full uniform standing beside his Harley that is also in full MP livery. I never served per his request and the grace of God that my number didn't come up during the draft. The Viet Nam war was taking our young men and he didn't want that for me. But he did teach me love of America and respect for the military and it's duty to serve and protect our way of life. With a tear still in my eye I once again thank you for that timely reminder of those who protect us as we enjoy our Corvettes and the American way. And thank you for your service as well as to all those who've also served.

I am not a Country Music fan but I do like that song. It did move me and stirred memories of those who didn't make it back to grow old with us. Thanks for posting it.

I purchased my first car, a 1965 GTO tri-power vert, from the parents of a boy who had been sent to Viet-Nam. This song made my eyes water!
That was back around 1967-68.

First, thank you for your service to our great country.
I was born in 1960, so I was too young to serve, but I was old enough to remember that war and those times. Thanks to you and all of the brave men and women that answered our country's call. You have my utmost respect.
I have heard that song before. A touching song. Thanks for posting it.

Hadn't heard that song before. Nice. (before this, all I ever knew was "Little Red Corvette".)
Rather than pay extra for a prestige tag, I opted for this free one from Georgia. I don't see many of these...

I'm a member of a large Corvette club, the East Tennessee Corvette Club and quite a few members have served in one branch or another, many during the Vietnam war. As I mentioned in post #4, I didn't serve my country in the military. As I've done many times during club events I sit in amazement at the comradery shared by those who've served. Those guys who've served in different branches of the military tease each other, and slap each other on the back, and share stories of their time in service. Even though I'm friends with many of them I can never share that kind of closeness because I've never been there, done that. They have a bond that only they can share. And I can't help but be envious. You who have served deserve our nations thanks in more ways than can be counted. And I give you a whole hearted civilian salute for that.

Thanks for sharing the song. I don't recall hearing it before but it definitely makes you feel, maybe even more so for those who've served...
