When I bought my '14 last November, one of the first things I did was buy an extended warranty from Dennis Fichtner. Just having the peace of mind that if something goes wrong it is not going to be a huge out of pocket expense was well worth it for me.

I bought a 7 Year 75,000 mile $0 Deductable Platinum Warranty from Dennis last March for $3,220. Did not shop it around, hopefully I got a good price.....
But peace of mind for next 7 years has me sleeping comfortably at night......

It's what keeps me hanging on to it! I resist trading in because of the warranty. I have four years to go on a 2014 that is the perfect car for me....

Yep,I will buy one from DF a few months before mine runs out.
My neighbor is a local Chevy tech and he advises it.Mechanically these cars are mostly solid, but it's the electronics that seems to give folks the most trouble & expense.

Based on your scant miles? The extended warranty MAY not be worth it. OTOH, it may be a Godsend......

Do you have examples of what electronics are having problems? I haven't seen anything that indicates that this is true, but "it's the electronics that go" has been a mantra on all makes/models of cars since the 80's. I'm not convinced it's still the case.

just imagine if the transmission or engine or torque tube goes out

I've never bought an extended warranty on anything. It's like betting against the house. In the long run the house ALWAYS wins. I'd rather be the house. My worst case scenario was a large projection screen TV that broke after the manufacturers warranty ran out. The cost was exactly what I would have paid for the warranty so I consider that a wash. The way I look at it if you can't afford to fix something you buy like a car or a refrigerator maybe you shouldn't buy it.

Just a couple of questions:
Has anyone ever bought an extended warranty, and then experienced an equipment failure of some type (engine controller failure, transmission failure, or something like that) not covered by normal warranty that made the purchase of the extended warranty plan well worth it?
If so, could you please provide details of extended warranty plan cost, failure type, and expected costs that were covered by the extended warranty?

For anybody in CA, please feel free to email or PM me for a quote. I sell a ton of the GMEPP warranties and would be happy to quote you.

My experience with GMEPP so far. My car has been out of the B2B for a little less than a year. It had a myriad of rattles/noises and not all were corrected or diagnosed while within the B2B. I've had my car in for service twice under GMEPP.
My belt tensioner went out while within the B2B period and was replaced (I was initially told the noise was normal for direct injected engines). This corrected the noise. My tensioner failed again outside of the B2B and replacement was covered under GMEPP. However there is a TSB that says the noise is due to the belt (doesn't make sense since the belt was not replaced the first time and the noise went away) and a special Gates belt needs to be installed (there was nothing wrong with the OEM belt other it is an incorrect application). I had to pay for the belt since belts are excluded from coverage under GMEPP.
I have a rattling noise coming from my suspension that was not corrected under the B2B (unable to reproduce). It got worse so I brought it in after my B2B had expired. The sway bar bushings were replaced under GMEPP but the noise is still there. I decided to look for it myself. My car (Z51) has 2 piece rotors and I found that the left front rotor is loose on the hat. There is a TSB to replace the 2 piece with a redesigned 1 piece rotor if the customer complains about brake pedal pulsation or noise that goes away under light braking (mine does the latter). I called the dealer and they said that I would have to pay for replacement (the rotors need to be replaced in pairs since they are a different design) since I was out of the B2B. GMEPP specifically excludes rotors (the rotors are well within the wear limits but are a defective design). I called GM customer service and they suggested I bring it to the dealer for evaluation and they may pay a portion of the repair. I would be responsible for the diagnostic fee (estimated at $100 to $200) if I decided to not have the dealer make the repairs. I've decided to live with the noise for the time being and will probably replace the rotors myself in the future.

Keep in mind if you buy the GMEPP it goes in to effect 30 days AND 1000 miles after the date of purchase.
I run 15k miles per year so hitting the 1k mile mark was easy. But for some of you that don’t do a lot of miles take this in consideration when you purchase.
That said I had a 48/50000 zero deductible platinum for my C6 I bought from Dennis for around 1900. My right fuel tank sending unit failed and the repair basically paid for the contract. I plan to buy one for my 16 z51 about 45 days out of the b2b expiration.

You'll get both viewpoints on whether to get an extended warranty or not. Sounds like your quote is for 7 yrs/48,000 miles. Many folks here have used Dennis Fichtner @ Denny Mendholt Chevy [406-896-3082] for their EW. Have also recently read where Todd Sutherland @ MacMulkin Chey [978.660.8045] is quoting competitive rates for EW. You might to call either/both to get a comparison quote.

Good to know that both DF and Todd were nice to deal with and close on price. After I get a little further along in my 36 month B2B I plan to get a quote from Todd [also bought my stingray from MacMulkin]. Appreciate the update on your EW comparison research.
