I love those Teak Wood steering wheels, you don't see many of them especially in that good condition. I wonder what's up with the "6-speed" trans shift plate?

Anthony has done some great mods to his 67 air car. Tilt wheel, custom padded center arm rest, teak wheel (not available in 67) and I'm going to guess a Tremic trans. Very nice! I would love to see more photos of his car.

That's not mine, just a picture off the web.

Yep, teak wood was only available in limited quantities in 65-66. Nice 67, though personally not into modded mid-years. I've always been more into '61, 63-66 correct/original cars. Never owned a 67, though it's certainly one of the most popular models of all Corvettes.

When I bought my Corvette I was thinking about driving in traffic and at the time the auto was better for that type of driving. I don’t drag race my car and it’s never been on a track so which ever trans is faster really doesn’t matter to me. I’ve wished many times that I’d gone with the manual over the auto trans and that’s just my preference between the two. I miss the experience of shifting my gears and the experience you get from just driving a manual. I’d never say the manual is faster, but to me it’s just more fun to drive.

I’m old enough to have owned numerous muscle cars and 2 Corvettes (a ‘61 and a ‘66) when I was younger and they were all manual trans cars. Most younger drivers of today didn’t grow up with manual trans performance cars so they don’t know what they are missing and that’s fine. I’m just speaking about my preference of a manual over the auto I have in my present Corvette. I just love the feeling of choosing my gears and shifting my own gears. If I decide to go with a newer Corvette it will be a manual trans and I don’t have any problem with the auto, but I want to have the manual experience one more time in a performance car before they disappear.

Look I've had my share of 4 spds and 6 spds and they are fun driving them but I just got tired of losing to the automatics at the track and rowing thru the gears in bumper traffic. Plus these new autos shift faster than any flat shifter can everytime without missing or hitting the rev limiter. Just saying!

Yep, can agree if drag racing. In fact if you have enough power a 2 speed Racing Powerglide is the way to go!

At least with the DCT in the C8 you'll still have efficient spur gears and not need a radiator as large as the one to cool the engine to keep the trans from overheating! Not an issue in drag racing!

I tried the automatic in my last Corvette, a 2016 Z06 Coupe and absolutely hated it after about 3 or 4 months. The transmission itself was flawless with lightning fast shifts. I can appreciate why some people prefer automatics as they may lack the ability to properly operate a manual transmission or may have some physical limitations. I see very few guys under 40 who can drive a manual and can see why those guys swear by DCTs and all automatics in general.

I was really surprised at some of the sharply negative reactions when people saw that my car was an automatic. Never expected that while a few asked if I got the automatic because it is so much faster. That is just BS as a guy like me is never going to feel the very small difference in straight line acceleration metrics. Please don't tell me that you are going to "feel" a 0.1 or 0.2 second difference that is claimed between the two. In my experience having driven both auto and manual Z06s is that the manual actually is the one that feels faster, much faster.

I'll be sticking with C7 Z06s if the C8 is a DCT only like the 2020 Shelby GT500.

As a Gex Xer, I am a manual Vette guy.

That said...I know many a "car guy" that is a Millineal that doesn't have a clue what the third pedal is for...

For most of the 60's, the auto in the vette was a 2 spd, so the 4 spd man had more appeal.

Lets call a spade a spade. Driving an automatic is wildly different than a manual.

I don't believe many would argue that the driving experience between the two isn't 'different' just which is best. Personally, I like and drive both.

It may have something to do with the rumors that the manual trans will not be offered for the C8, thus Kerbeck may be beefing up their supply of C7 M7s for those who want to grab one of the last Corvette manuals before they're gone.
<---This guy right here. . One of the main reasons I got a 2018 C7 GS is because there are not going to be many manual transmissions anymore and I wanted that plus a v8. I'm GenX so I am by no means old school but I shudder at the last of the Manuals ever being made by GM. I also will keep this until the wheels fall off or it becomes a collectors item.

You made a good move. Automatics in performance cars are boring and just plain suck. Lets face it, there are more than a few guys out there making excuses about having an automatic in a high performance sports car because their selfish wife wouldn't allow it. Oh yeah, believe it, waaaaay more of that than you would guess, ask the guys who well these cars. How many guys opt for an automatic because they are imperceptibly faster? They either can't drive a stick or have a bitch of a wife that runs their life.

Reasons vary.Since many Vette owners are 60+,joint problems could be one of the reasons.

Next week,I go in for my 3rd (clutch) knee op in 3 yrs. This one and the last were to remove thick & heavy scar tissue & lesions.TKR was done 3 yrs ago.

Many more and I might be done too!
