Has anyone installed a K&N air filter system? I have a 2015 Z51 and was wondering if it voids the factory warranty. Any problems installing one like having to cut existing lines?
About a Year ago,I tested these 3 filters on my '17 LT1.
White=BMS,Yellow=OE & Red=K&N.
This was NOT a dyno test,but rather a real world test of everyday driving.I ran the BMS & KN both about 500 miles each and based on my SOTP feeling,I chose the BMS.It's a dry media so that is a plus.
I don't believe a filter change would void your engine warranty under normal circumstances.
I have the KN and you can have it.Pick up only in SC.
Haven't seen any credible independent test data where an aftermarket air filter improved anything for the C7, except for the manufacturer's/seller's income.
I would be interested if anyone has any independent test data that proves otherwise.

This may be true on the LT1. However guys are making a bit more boost on LT4 cars. That does translate to more power. But GM cheaped out and used the same filter and TB for both.
I've used K&N I a half dozen different cars - American , Japanese and german.
I can't tell you that there has been any performance benefit
K&N claim a few hp - I believe a few = no more than three to five.
But could also be "0".
There's no downside, they last longer; easy to clean and re-oil.
For sure they don't void any warranty.

I just removed, cleaned and replaced it - it was dirty.

Dirt pass thru? Perhaps you have experienced that but it has not been my experience the last 13 years.
I have seen it first hand on my oil analysis reports, after putting in a K&N filter the silicon levels always go up, which is why I stopped using them a long time ago.

I don't know how you would define "my experience" because the dirt that passes through an auto air filter and into the engine is generally not visible to an eyeball test. What Patman [and I] am talking about is the used oil analysis tests that show high silicon numbers in the oil of people that use less efficient reusable filters like K&N. FYI, silicon = sand and is the major marker of ingested dirt in the engine. But if you don't do oil analysis, here are the results of a very expensive flow test done by automotive enthusiasts some years back.

“Accumulative Gain” is the total amount of dirt that passed through the filter during the test.

This ^^^ Any oil based filter will screw up your MAS thus resulting in a poor running engine.
