I don't know about the c7 sensors, but the first one to die on my '05 c6 was about 7 years old. Bought a new bosch one to replace it, along with a tpms sensor tool from tire rack to ping them to relearn the car to the new sensor ID. Since I had nothing to lose I dug out the epoxy on the dead sensor and figured out how to replace the battery in it. So when the next one died I had a spare on deck ready to go. If I recall the bosch sensors aren't available (I got it on ebay). Beware of new old stock because they're likely dead.
