Default Flying roof club

After 4 corvettes I finally joined the flying roof club. Never wanted to join and thought I was way to smart for this club full of dumbasses

This, I have had my roof out more times than I can remember over the life span of all of my vettes and still cannot see how one does not make sure that the roof is locked down before driving off? I mean most of us freak out if someone parks next to us in a parking lot or we get a small stone chip, but we cant install our roof correctly and make sure its locked in place?

Man, that really sucks. Perhaps you can find a really nice used one in the Parts for Sale section or from a forum used parts vendor.

So sorry to see this and I believe this could happen to any of us.

Thanks for the reminder. The good news is you’ll be able to buy a new one.

Oh man, that does suck. Can't imagine the feeling going down the
road and having the top fly off like that. Sorry this happened to you.

This right here scares me.

After having Verts and a FRC, buying a Coupe last October, I worried about it all fall, and now will worry about it forever.

It's not my DD, but Mr.owc6;s but now It's on my radar, but there is little or nothing I can do about it.

I must say you got some major AIR time on that roof, some major damage to the frame..

Hope you find a replacement on the cheap

I used some velcro and string to attach small bright colored piece of plastic to the roof latch handle. It stashes out of sight but will dangle in front of me after I open the handle.

I hate this club (I'm a member, too). I got luckier on the landing. Sorry about your roof.

Maybe now would be a good time for me to harp on the idea that GM should have spent $5 to put a sensor on the roof locks so there would be a beeping or light to indicate the roof wasn't locked down.

At least this will give you an opportunity to buy a transparent roof if you with to. A lot less expensive than a painted one. I can't figure out how this flying roof happens, but I know that doesn't help you now. Look at the bright side. At least the main part of your car didn't get damaged.

How does almost every car made today have a "door ajar" or "trunk open" warning, but in 2019 we can't get a "targa unlatched" warning?

Very sorry this happened to you!

Fairly new to the removable roof life. How does this happen? Are all 3 latches not getting latched or just the front?

Very sorry for your experience. That has to be a real shock when it occurs because it no doubts happens at highway speeds. Never was a fan of convertibles. I owned a 1966 tri-power 427 convertible but it did nothing to change my mind. Had a 2004 FRC Z06 and own a 2009 C6 Z06 both with fixed roofs. Will probably never take the roof panel off my 2019 Z06.

Even when mine is secure it makes a horrible rattle noise at high speeds. Sounds like it's coming from the single rear latch. Terrifies me.
