Default Dealership has had my car for 10 days?

I dropped off my C7 at Carl Black Chevy in Orlando on Friday the 8th with a nail in the tire. Itís now the 18th and they still have my car... My service advisor has been out for a week now (without any warning), so they assigned me someone else. Itís been a total disaster and Iím worried about my car.

The nail was covered under a tire warranty I bought, but it took them an entire week to file the claim. They also said I need new front tires, so I agreed but they still donít have them in stock. Seems like they havenít even started the other scheduled maintenance, which is basically just an oil change. And its been 10 days!!!

Has anyone else had an experience like this? I honestly donít even know what to say to the dealership, I feel like everything should be free at this point. Iíve been calling every single day asking about the car. I demanded a loaner after 4 days, and while I was there they showed me the car. It was literally sitting in the lot soaking wet with the engine bay cracked open.

Yes, I've had an experience like that. No, it was not resolved in any sort of satisfactory manner. Neither the dealer nor GM was concerned with resolving the situation. It was swept under the rug.

I'm not sure what to tell you. If the car can be driven, go get it back and never take it there again. And let those of us who care know, so we don't take ours there either.

I would have definitely flipped out by now. It's because of experiences like the OP has stated, I don't leave my car ANYWHERE!!!! When it needs an oil change, I wait while it's being done and if I am able to watch the work being done, I'm right there. Luckily, there' s a Corvette specialist that I trust at my dealership so he's the only person allowed to touch my car.

Get your car out of there! This dealership is not the place to go for anything..
Help; the Forum by giving us the name of the dealership so we can avoid it...

Root problem was probably your service advisor unexpectedly being out (ill?) and the next guy dropping the ball. I would suggest talking to service manager, and if you've already been to him going to the general manager or owner. These guys hate hate hate getting negative reviews on service as these can affect their income.

Oh, try to remain relentlessly polite in these interactions, something that tends to get better results in most cases.

Good luck.

He did, in the first line.

Surely Orlando must have more than one dealer?

I would definitely elevate your concerns to someone higher up in the food chain, someone other than the service writer or manager. You need to get this unacceptable situation to the attention of the owner, or general manager.

I just bought our CPO C7 from there about a month ago. Ordered a few parts and got them promptly without any issue. I did stop in to meet the service staff when I first bought the car and noticed there were quite a few service writers back there. I can't vouch for the dealership at all, but I certainly hope you resolve your issue quickly. I would definitely escalate the problem and let them know you've already spread the word here at the forum. I did notice they were diligent in making sure that my review about them was favorable ... and having satisfied customers is one of their primary goals during reviews.

I had a similar issue of my car being in the dealership for several days, but I think it was related to the fact that my dealer has only 1 Corvette Certified tech (at least when I bought the car they told me he would be the ONLY person working on my car).

I took my Corvette in for a routine oil change at 11k miles and commented that it occasionally had a squeal between 1st and 2nd gear. They looked at it and told me I needed a new clutch. It was done under warranty, but they had my car for 8 days...

I have had great service from them, and will continue to take my car there, although 8 days is a bit too much.

Sounds like you are fortunate in that you went there for something minor. If they can't handle a simple service request as a flat tire, thank god they're not working on something complicated.
I would pick up the C7 ASAP and take it somewhere else. I dealt with Stingray Chevy (a little east of Orlando) when I was looking for my GS and they were very professional even though I didn't buy from them and I've heard they have a very good service dept.

stop calling and go down there, and tell them you want the car back.

why are you letting them treat you like this, i don't get it. Are they unable to get the tires?

Go back and pick up your car from Carl Black and take it to Discount Tire to get the tire repaired for free. Then, order your new tires from Discount. When this is all finished take a ride out to Plant City and have Stingray Chevrolet take care of the oil change. While you're there buy a couple of raffle tickets for the 2019 Z06 they are raffling off. No need to support Carl Black if they can't take care of you. At this point I'd be afraid of them installing new tires without scratching your wheels or doing other damage.

Why didn't you just have them patch the tire in the first place?

There really is no excuse for the dealer keeping your car thatís long without at least giving you a satisfactory explanation as to why the delay. If it were my car, I would request the keys and take it elsewhere.

There was a very similar thread recently and I wonder how that one ended. My experience is that the dealers are not very good with corvette tires. A large dealer in my area told me to take mine to a rim and tire specialty shop and that's where the insanity finally stopped. And actually I really respect the Chevy dealer for telling me that they highly suggest I take it to a specialty shop. I will likely return to them for warranty work.

They very likely trashed something and are trying to hide it. Like a scratched up rim from jamming pry bars into it getting the beads to seat.

My dealer told me they will sell me tires but prefer if I have them mounted somewhere else.
