Most previous owners of C6 Z's who I have talked to say their "slower" C7 is the better car.
What gives a non C6Z owner any right to make a valid performance comparison between the two. NONE. The op specifically asked about a C6Z.

Are you off your meds? Or are you just looking for something to get upset about? It's not hard to judge the difference in performance between a C6Z and C7 after you've driven both.

How can you get on topic when you have people offering advice on a car (C6Z) they have never owned or driven. Notice I never offered a suggestion because I have nothing to base it on.

We think alike. There is no way in hell I'd get a Stingray after having my C5 Z06. The suspension was very stiff and the car was light. I would have to go with the C6 Z06 if Stingray was the only other option. Z51, Grand Sport, totally different story.

I owned a 2013 427 convertible which was essentially a Grand Sport with the LS7 so not quite a Z06 but very close. I really loved the LS7 and I miss the drama of all that rumble and popping but my C7 Z51 is a much better car overall for technology, handling, ride and fit and finish than either of my two C6’s.

If it is power that you want to focus on, it is worth noting that mild mods can be easily be made to a C7 base will quickly transform that car into a monster. The base engine in a C7 is that good --- 100 hp is there for the taking with no problems or concerns regarding valve guide alignment or with block wall thickness between cylinder walls or anything else. The C7 base is an excellent platform to begin with and it just gets better from there as you move to Z51, GS, and so on.
This is an old thread but i had to comment because of the statement of wall thickness between cylinder walls , theres guys out there running 1000hp c6zs with zero issues dont post things that you have zero knowledge or experience with

Relative Nurburgrung lap times: C7 Z51: 7:33, C6 Z06/Z07 pkge: 7:22. So yes the C6/Z06 is somewhat faster. But 11 seconds over a 7.5 minute course is not a huge gap, and the driving experience of the C7 is FAR superior to my old C6, not even close. Better ride, handling, WAY better interior, looks, etc. Just better in too many ways to list here.

I think if you get to drive the two cars you'll buy a C7.
11 seconds at the ring is a huge difference. What an absolute absurd claim that it isnt . Keep drinking that kool aid

I do agree that the c7 is better I almost every category except vs a c6z the power difference is very noticeable from the 7.0L
