Default Does anyone know what this is?

I was under my car changing the oil today and noticed this piece seems to be leaking grease or a thicker type of oil. I am not sure what it is or what it does. Does anyone know what this is?

My guess: Belt Tensioner - I guess a common issue with the 2014s? Belt Tensioner Mystery

Flux Capacitor Drive Unit. Do not exceed 88 mph until you have this checked.

(Seriously, I think I'm with InpliedConsent, but some one will actually know.)

Mine has been replaced twice due to noise. No leaking AFAIK.

I have 26500 on my 2015. I noticed the noise today and you can watch the car drop into V4 mode and heat the rattlle noise. I am wondering if this will be covered under the powertrain warranty. I guess that I will see since the car goes into the dealership on Friday for a faulty transmission temperature sensor. The parts guy at the dealership said it is $105 for the belt tensioner. They are usually really good at the dealership covering stuff. I had the MSRC update installed free.

I think your warranty is 5 years and 50,000 miles? If so it will be covered. Mine was when I had 36,005 miles on it and my warranty was to expire in 3 miles! I have the 2016 model year with the 3/36,000 mile warranty. The car had 8 miles on it when I bought it. It was driven to my house for delivery.

The warranty changed in 2016. 2015's were 60 months or 100k powertrain anyway. I am getting pretty close as October is 5 years. It has been a great car for a long time so I really don't care .

You all were correct as I was sure that you all would be. It is covered under my powertrain warranty so will be replaced for free. They finally had my transmission temperature sensor that was ordered months ago since my car was throwing a CEL every once in a while. Should get my car back Monday. Thanks to everyone for the information.

Good deal Joe. I was going to say it's getting close to summertime, and fun time. Then I saw you live in Arizona.
