Can't speak to chrome directly BUT it was pitting the black wheels on my 2014 Z51, which has the same aggressive brake pads as on the Grand Sport. I lived with the OEM pads for ~6 months cleaning the dust ever 100 to 150 miles (~two trips into town that includd a number of aggressive stops on the back roads I use.) Finally switched to Carbotech 1521 ceramic street pads and it was ~85% less dust. Most important the little dust that was there was light and did not cause pitting. I washed the wheels only when I washed the car. Put Carbotech 1521 ceramic street pas on my Grand Sport and same result, little dust and I wash the wheels only when I wash the car.

Chrome is probably more resistant than paint BUT it's a very thin layer and once corrosion starts under the surface it will migrate.

Ive got the stock GS wheels on my 2017 - fronts are far worse than rears but both get very dirty and I'd like to swap out.

Are Carbotech 1521 ceramic street pads good for a once or twice a year track day?
Is there a better (or alternative) low dust all around option?

Eventually the brake dust can cause pitting on the wheels, especially if it is allowed to stay on the wheels for any extended period of time. Frequently cleaning the wheels will help in mitigating any damage that may occur.

Carboteh has 6 or 7 racing compounds. Ones for gymcanas stop good with cold pads (perhaps not great like 1521 pads) but have more dust than the street compound. Unfortutsly life is a compromise which is why Chevy doesn’t have what you and others would like

I have seen where Adam the forum vendor who sells Carbotech pads recommend one that is the best compromise he often responds to brake Threads

My chrome wheels have not pitted however the car only has 3K miles on it. The car is a 2017. I keep the wheels polished which makes it much easier to clean off the brake dust. A wet rag will do it. I don't let the dust stay on the wheels for very long.

You can wash the wheels, drive for 5 minutes, and when you run a finger across the fronts, it'll be black.

Wash your wheels often because eventually it will pit them. Need to change the pads ASAP, and coat the wheels with a wheel glaze/wax and hope it keeps some dust from sticking.

Anyone know who has the best prices on the Carbotech 1521 front and rears? I'm sick of my Z51 pads

I do know that you do not want to park your car with the wheels wet from rain, etc. The dust will dang near fuse itself to the chrome after the water dries, and it ain't easy to clean it off. l learned that the hard way on my C6.
