Default C7 GS vs F430 Coupe

Hey guys, I currently have a 2017 C7 GS and Iím considering picking up a 2006 F430 Coupe. I know lots of guys on here have had 430s so I thought it would be good to ask, have any of you on here gone back in years and then be disappointed by the technical aspect? Things like blue tooth, digital dials, touch screens, heated/cooled seats, etc. Iíve always loved the look of the 430 and the car seems like a good deal, but I want to spend 100k on a car thatís only as fast as the car I have now and end up never driving it/regretting it because I miss things I didnít realize Iíd miss.

Honestly, the F-430 is a great experience and I highly recommend you getting out of your Vette for it. If you were talking about the 360 I would say no but a 430 I would say yes. The interior will not look or feel as nice as the C7 but the overall feel of the car, engine and exhaust note is worth all of it. To me they are still one one of the best looking F cars ever made that are affordable.

So thatís what Iíve been thinking. And I might not trade C7, but Iím without a doubt getting at McLaren 12C at some point and I canít have all 3 for sure. I just happened to come across this 430, looks like a good deal, and itís one of my fav F cars, so figured Iíd check it out.

Do not think you will miss any of the features in your GS once you fire up the 430.

I assume you mean because of the maintenance. I was told as long as I get one of the higher vins theyíre mostly good. If you have any thoughts opposed to that though please let me know before itís in my garage.

McLaren 12C is an interesting car but it never jumped out at me for some reason, I would probably do a Huracan LP580-2 before a McLaren 12C. If you love F cars I never liked the 458, I always thought it was missing something but the new 488 is beautiful and a big improvement over the 458. I can see a 488 in my garage someday.

The engine note alone is worth it.

Nothing like the sound of a Ferrari V8. I had a brief romance with a 360. It was too much trouble to upkeep but that exhauste note.....

I was the opposite, I loved the 458 way more than the 488. I plan on owning one at some point but I might buy a Scuderia instead. Thatís one of my favs in that price range.

Please get a Capristo Exhaust system, the sound a 430 puts out through that exhaust system has to be one of the best exhaust notes I have ever heard in person and I have been around a lot of cars.

I had a 2007 F430 for two years. Things to make sure of are the clutch life ($6500 to replace) and the exhaust manifolds. The precats are internal and the manifolds are subject to cracking causing debris from the precats to be ingested into the engine ($40K to replace engine). I put headers on mine to completely eliminate the precat issue. My clutch had over 90% life left at purchase but I did need an adjustment once ($2500). The water pump is also joined with the oil pump. If you're having a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) done, make sure you get the belly pan covering the bottom of the engine removed and look for signs of coolant. A water/oil pump replacement will set you back close to $5K. I traded mine in on a new 2016 Jaguar F Type R convertible as my F430 was not a CPO car so no warranty. The Ferrari was a fun car and if I lived closer to a place with an F car dealership, I would have kept it. Only one independent F car mechanic in my area and I was on his schedule. Downtime was excessive sometimes. If I buy another F car it will be one with a DCT. Good luck.

I have an old - 328 GTB - wow... just wow... how I do love that old beast.... the tactile feel when driving the twisties and back roads at speed.... yes! Yes.... the 430 is much better technology and the car is faster, but wouldn't trade my 328 for one.... but, yes... buy it.... you'll love it....

Amazing car man! I always wanted a F355 GTS but Iíve heard pretty much only terrible things reliability and maintence wise. So I donít consider those the same as the 430. The 430 is an older modern car, I consider those classics. I just donít have classic Ferrari repair money probably lol.

Oh of course, but to me when a 355 and 430 cost similar money but one is much newer, faster, and costs far less in maintenance, it means I pay less to play harder.

The 355 is also one of the most unreliable F cars made and the 430 is one of the most reliable F cars made. Huge difference.
