Eds suggestion with the do not wash sign is perfect. Also if you are worried about unwanted road tests or joy rides, then take in in with the low fuel light on.

Seems to be a roll of the dice, may get great issue-free service and then may be a disaster. Just depends on the dealership, the tech and even sometimes unfortunate circumstances beyond anyone's control.

I've had mine replaced 3 or 4 times under warranty. This revised version is finally holding up!

I have yet to see a single C7 with an armrest that didn't need replacing. I'll take care of the next one, though. Maybe use that towel thingy like a previous post.

I got mine replaced from the dealership under warranty. They installed it and I have zero issues with it. I drive my car daily and the center console has zero indentations in the console. If you get the replacement DO NOT put any leather stuff on the console. I got mine done in Feb 2018 and it still does not have any indentations.

The revised part is holding up perfectly for me, after going through 3 of the originals.

Does anyone know what was changed on the new parts? Did they change the underlying foam or the actual leather? I would think the same problem would keep happening if GM didn't make a change in the materials used.

For the record, I have both the original and GM Z06 logo center armrest on my 2019 coupe and the material seems very solid, whereas I've seen pictures of earlier C7 models where the leather wrinkled up and it looked very loose.

Better adhesive between the foam & leather. It was the subject of an "Ask Tadge" a year or two ago.

Well,as I said, "Mine does not." And I have 84,000 miles on my car. I'm on my sixth Vette and near 800,000 miles.... so, it ain't my first Corvette rodeo....

The difference may well be how one drives. I never put my right elbow on the center armrest so mine is flawless. Others use the armrest every time they get into the car

Mine was great the first 70,000 miles. Then I started using sun screen on the area of my arms that rest on the center console and the door. After about 3 days the leather was all crimped and wrinkled! WTF? A word of caution to all. DON'T GET SUNSCREEN ANYWHERE CLOSE TO THOSE ARMRESTS.

Same here, 2015 Stingray almost 50k miles and no armrest issue.

I am on my 4th C7. 2014 Sting Ray, 2015 Z06, 2016 Z06, and my current 2018 Z06. My cars are not garage queens. They are our vacation cars with my arm on the armrest for hours on end. I have never had to have the arm rest replaced. I always have a towel covering the armrest

I keep a placard in my car that I display when bringing to the dealer for service.

"DO NOT WASH CAR AFTER SERVICE"

I keep a gray hand towel draped over the console cover when I drive. Saves the lid from elbow divot, wear and perspiration.

I'm a son of a gun, since this has been going on since the first C7's hit the lot, I would have thought GM would have their chit together by now. Oh well, I try to keep mine covered on long road trips anyways.

Also, I have though it would be nice if my dealer offered a free wash. But after hearing the horror stories I'm glad they don't.

Your concern is warranted... I took my new C5 in four times for warranty work and four times it came back with something screwed-up. The C7 only goes in for critical work I cannot do. Were I you, I'd just buy a new arm-rest and install myself, if they won't look at yours and swap you one--for you to do in their lot. All the best!

Gawd, but I hate such S**T!
