Chip is this a "big red" brand jack? Is it the steel one or the aluminum one?

I want to see a picture of that "broken" jack.

Same here. Learned this trick along time ago. The kids are always on me for the odd size pieces of wood I collect. You never know when they might come in handy. I still need to find a jack for the Vette myself though.

Best of luck on the repair.

This is the reason why I invested over $500 nearly 20 years ago in an AC Hydralics jack.

Hindsight being 20/20 and all. I had a jack fail while changing out wheels, drop the car and nearly pinned me.

Rear qtr unbolts
Front fender unbolts
Rocker is glued

One glass was not enough for me either...

Has your C7 been lowered? I have the exact same HF jack and I have just over 3" between the jack and rocker when slide under my '17 GS.

Of course, I'm sorry to see this and thrilled no one was hurt... but, that said, mass-produced (not to mention cheap) mechanical devices ALL sometimes fail--ask Boeing of late.

Were this a common issue, even for this particular jack, class-action law suits would soon put HF out of business, at least as we know it.

Hang in there. "Stuff" is repairable or replaceable... always remember what isn't.

Quick Jack is your best friend. Cost some bucks, but it's the way to go.
