Damn Chip, that really sucks. Looks like a very expensive repair will be required.
I have two Harbor Freight floor jacks (made by Pittsburg) and have not had any problems. I do use jack stands when lifting the car too just as added safety.

At first glance of the thread title, I thought this thread was going in another direction. Being a bourbon drinker I was excited. I can tell you with the utmost certainty..... bourbon is not going to make this any easier! That blows big time! Good luck with the repairs.
Now after you get the car back, and the repairs are perfect.... that will be the time for a nice Michters on the rocks!

Chip if the jack is low enough to fit under the car how'd that happen? Wouldn't the wheel/tire catch it?

One glass wouldn't be enough for me... what a PITA. You'll have to remove the bumper and headlight to swap the fender. I wouldn't replace the rocker as it's glued on... fix that if you can. Skirt is toast, but that's easy to replace.

So the car came down on the tire, the suspension compressed, and that ate up the last little bit of clearance?
That sucks. I'm sorry to hear it.

Ouch! My jack almost touches the side skirt when I'm jacking the car. I can see how this would happen when the jack fails. I use an AC Delco low profile jack, but honestly don't think it's any better than any cheap jack available. Will be sure to be extra cautious from now on when jacking the car!

That sucks. I have 2 Harbor Freight jacks and left the car overnight jacked up without wheels. Next morning my car was sitting on the rotors -- no damage, but I'll never make that mistake again. Sorry to see your damage, I know that hurts bad. I'll have a shot for you after I get off today . . .
