OP, on a serious note, thanks for reminding me why I pay extra to have either the dealer do oil changes or a top notch independent garage.

2017, which cap did say 5W-30, however I switched the cap when I went to 0w-40. By the way, I've noticed a slight rise in oil pressure since the switch.

Took my car to the local Chevy dealer and got the cooling system flushed. It didn't produce the results I had hoped for. Here's a pic of the goop inside the reservoir after the flush. Dealer wanted to pull the water pump and thermostat and flush with a water hose till clear. I'm not ready to do that yet but what I'm planning on doing is removing the thermostat so the system will remain open when the cold water hits it, remove the upper and lower hoses and flush with water hose. Install a new thermostat when finished. I even considered using a solution of Simple Green to help remove the oil clinging to hard surfaces but a little leery about not getting all of it out of the system. I'm open to suggestions at this point.

Sorry to hear this. I'm with Ken above, no Simple Green. None of us are metallurgists or chemical engineers who know how coolant, Mobil 1 and Simple G. will interact with each other, or the various metals in the cooling system. Go carefully and be thorough. It's "your" car and no one's going to pay you if their suggestions are wrong. Good luck.

pull the damn water pump and get it fixed right
does not matter the cost, even if u eat some of it
get it fixed right
coles notes version
FIX THE DAMN THING THE FIRST TIME.
u will be changing the coolant for years to get it right

Just use a fluid evacuator to suck the oil off the top. Do it once a week and you’ll be good. The vast majority floats to the top. And the oil that doesn’t come to the top won’t be affected much by a flush. In the meantime it won’t actually hurt your cooling system.

YIKES! Sorry to hear this, but you sound as if you knew better. Next time simply reset the oil-life indicator until you can do it yourself.

Melting Slicks
Yes of course but the owners are close friends of mine and trying to not run up a labor charge that is not necessary. Besides the flush the dealer did was pretty ineffective. I'm going to try to do it myself with a hose and the radiator hoses off and see if that produces better results.

But whatever you're good with is all that matters. Good luck.
