I'd like some opinions on this. Yesterday I took delivery of an ordered 2019 Stingray Vert, Shadow Gray metallic.
I inspected the paint closely, and found all is perfect, except for the hood.
Here I found about a dozen small dots that wont rub out, and look like little stains. They are not rock chips. It is disturbing.. Only on the hood.
Here are some pictures. I am hesitant to ask for a repaint, but don't like the dots. What does the Corvette Community think?

I couldn't tell what was going on in the first three pics and couldn't see anything wrong on the fourth. 👍

Take it back to dealer. Maybe they won't need to repaint

I woud not want my brand new car to have those spots on the hood. I do not know how well your local Chevy dealer does on body work, but if they are good, let them work on the hood. Otherwise, see what a non-dealer body shop can do with the hood.

Looks like that new paint facility is working real well, not. What a shame, The entire run of C7 with bad paint. Not every car, but every year since 2014.

Do not mess with repainting the flaw. I did that once with a new car, the paint was never right.

Oh, the dots are on the paint. I had to reflect off the overhead fluor lights to make them show up on the pictures.

Looks more like damaged sustained during shipping than from new paint shop. A corrosive probably dripped on hood from an overpass or something. Dealer may be able to wet-sand it out.

Take it to an independent detailer or can you live with it ? I dont like a brand new car resprayed

New cars are covered when shipped from BGA. My Blade Silver Metallic came with this spot on the
right front fender and the dealer body shop said the repair would likely be worse than the spot because
metallic paint. So far I have just decided to live with it, when viewed at certain angles, it disappears.

If you haven't already make the Dealer aware of the issue and see what your options are, hopefully some minor paint correction will fix it, or at least make it alot better than it is

I'm aware of that however that doesn't necessarily mean they don't get damaged during the shipping process. We've had threads reporting spots in paint, paint damage, panels cracked from tie-down chains etc..
That's why I searched dealer stock from around the country for my GS Vert as opposed to ordering.

All Corvettes are ordered, GM doesn't make spec Vettes. There is an inherent risk of cosmetic or mechanical issues
with any new vehicles, hence the warranty. Cars sitting on a dealers lot or even in the showroom are exposed to all
kinds of potential trauma. I am happy that just like me, you got the Vette you wanted.
But this thread isn't about us, it's about a decision the OP needs to make.

Sorry you are having issues with the paint on your new C7. I don't know if it is a factory defect or something that happened on the way to the dealer. However, the Shadow Gray Metallic cars may be cursed. See my thread at this link:

I would take it to a detail shop that does ceramic coating and paint correction... Have them look at it, see if they can fix that part and have it ceramic coated... best thing I did for my paint, looks 1000% better than stock...

You seem to be missing my point.
If a C7 is purchased from dealer stock the buyer can go to the dealership see and inspect the car for any issues or damage (such as spots on the hood) and then decide if they want to purchase the particular C7 or keep searching for another without issues or damage.
However:
If a C7 is "special ordered" (as in buyer going to a Chevy dealer and ordering one in color/combo and equipped as he/she desires) the buyer waits for weeks to receive a car that may have issues such as the OP is dealing with here.

And yes, I got the Vette I wanted without any issues. However, per your post below, you received your C7 with a spot on the fender that you are now living with as your dealer states he can't fix it without making it worse which is a perfect example as to why I purchase from dealer stock rather than special order.

OP, I would suggest contacting the Corvette clubs near you for recommendations as to which dealers have the best body shops and even detail shops in your area. As has been mentioned it's a good possibility that the spots can be removed via clay bar, wet sanding and/or buffing without a re-paint. It's quite incredible what a good detail/paint correction tech can do.
If you decide to go the detail shop route I would still take your C7 to the dealer where purchased first to notify of the issue. Again, good luck.
