Mobil 1™ ESP 0W-40?
I purchased a used 2014 Corvette z51. It’s showing 25% remaining on oil usage. I have a couple of questions and am sure I came to the right place.
Q1: do I absolutely have to use the Mobil 1™ ESP 0W-40, specifically the “ESP” formulation. Can I use just the normal Mobil 1™ 0W-40? I don’t drive the car hard and won’t be autocrossing or racing it.
Q2: does anyone know where I can purchase the Mobil 1™ ESP 0W-40 in a 5 liter container? So far I can only find the quart sizes in ESP formulation.
Q3: from what I’ve read here the oil usage percentage is calculated on a years usage. Since I live in Massachusetts I will probably be driving the car from April to November, does that mean if I were to change the oil in say April, will I need to change the oil the following April?
I’m sure the ESP vs Non ESP has been hashed out already but I wasn’t able to really find an answer.

Why are you considering changing from 10-w30? i would stay with what's been in the car.

Any approved Dexos 2 full synthetic recommended weight is fine.

2019 GS Coupe
I use Mobil0w-40 ESP but as discussed any dexos 2 full synthetic oil can be used . The use of ow-40 ESP is more of a personal preference issue
for me as i just started using it in my 2019 GS.
If you are not tracking the car probably cheaper to go with one of the other approved dexos 2 full synthetics"
Cheers

At least for the LS7 engine in my C6 Z06, 0-40 is now recommend for additional lubrication throughout the operating spectrum. I personally use Amsoil Signature in both the c6 and C7. To many in depth studies have shown Amsoil to be far ahead of the pack. I also use an oil anti friction additive in both, in my case Prolong.

I can’t find in the book what the oil viscosity is suppose to be. Are you saying that the 0W-40W is the incorrect viscosity? Where can I find this info?
Duh! Right on the oil cap it says 5W-30W. I wonder why Targe said 0W-40W?

Because they only recently switched weights. And it's "Tadge."

From a post on this forum on Ask Targe, he said the following Weight is 0W-40W. FROM ASK “ASK TADGE.

I purchased it from Speedway Motors through Ebay. Good price and very fast shipping.

Yes, the oil life monitor (OLM) works on time as well as other factors such as RPMs, etc. So unless you put enough miles on the car each year to cause the OLM to go down to a change oil situation before the year is up, then you should change it on a yearly basis per the owner's manual. Some will tell you you don't have to do that, but I will follow what the engineers recommend.
I plan to keep using the 5W30 oil that my '14 was initially filled with each time I need to change the oil.

Mobil1 ESP 0W-40 Factory fill on 2019s
Mobil1 ESP 0W-40 is the factory fill on all 2019. It is backwards compatible and recommended if you track your car so you don't have to switch oils back and forth between 5W-30 and 15W50.

I just purchased 12 quarts of 0W-40 ESP from Amazon for just under $10 a QT.
Also, it's not like 5W30 just became obsolete. It is still fine for street driving and if you don't feel the need to change to 0W-40 in the 2017 and earlier cars then don't. I personally drive my Z51 hard so I'm switching to 0W-40 ESP.

Just got it on Amazon. Thanks.
I switched to 0W-40 last year when I had my dealer do my last free oil change. This oil change will be the first that I'm doing myself. Track it occasionally.
