It has been a good run for the C7R, but looking forward to seeing how the C8R will stack up against the competition.

well, I sure will miss the front-engined corvette racers, what little I saw of them from the C5R and up.
But I scratch my head at this quote: "/.../and has supposedly sent executives to chat with various legal teams on selling a car at such a comparatively bargain price". Why on earth would executives need to discuss the expected bargain price (I don't expect it to be a bargain here with the C7 Z06 being close to the Audi R8 in price) of a C8 ZR1 with legal teams???

Not so sure the C8 is going to be "king" with only an LS2 engine. Maybe when the Z06 or whatever the higher performance version is released we'll see a new king. I doubt the first year is going to do it.

Too bad the Ford GT will be going away as a competitor. It was set up as a fixed number of years program to start with and they are apparently holding to that. I agree that the BOP adjustments are what hold the C7.R back on certain tracks. Reliability of the C8 on the track will potentially be an issue as it is with anything that's all new. Some minor equipment failures could throw away potentially good results. I guess we'll see...

The old Datona prototype corvettes were mid engine. So now the GTLM is sort of returning to that. I gotta say I loved those corvette prototypes. The most badass version of a corvette race car I have ever seen.
