Wise words Chief. Thanks for the wisdom and advice. Recently retired Navy myself.

Saw an excellent video of a man talking an orange cone and placing it on his head like a hat and breaking into dance. This was during a sobriety test

OK, we can agree its just a car and a Chevy at that, but some of us are proud of our rides to the point we wish to keep the show room look as long as possible. I'm one. I don't let my Vette rule my life but it does pay to make good judgement decisions about where to park, even where to take the car in the first place. Make your best decision when parking, walk away, look back to admire the beautiful car, go enjoy your day.

I used to worry about that a lot when I first got my C5, as I was daily driving it year round and it was my only car so it got parked in many locations that would make Corvette owners cringe. But after 9 years of owning that car and not getting any damage from doors in parking lots, I eased up on the stress level. I parked my C6 in many tight spots, same thing, no damage, and even though I try my best to find the "better spots" with my C7, there are times when I have no choice, and so far so good.

This reminds me of my neighbor. He has had his Camaro ZL1 E for about 9 months. Just turned 500miles for first oil change. He hasn’t parked it anywhere other than home. He goes for a ride occasionally and it sits in the garage while he makes a significant payment. His wife just laughs about it. I feel sorry for the car🤣

I treat it like the quickly depreciating asset that it is. It’s a depreciating Chevy, albeit a very nice one, but it’s still just a car.

I would think that the fiberglass body is more resistant to door dings than a steel or aluminum body would be.

That works for you, however, everyone is different. To some people the corvette is not just a car. I have a Subaru for a daily driver that is “just a car”.

Certainly understand how you feel. I am very careful where I park my Vette. Fortunately mine is not my DD so I can pick and choose where or if I park my Vette. To me it is more than a Chevy, or a depreciating asset, a car and blah blah.

First choice is I try to find that spot all the way in the back. It's just me trying to keep my vehicles in tip top shape.
Second choice is next to a nicer car with hopes of reciprocating decency of not door dinging each other.
Third choice will be to buy a crap ton of bubble wrap and place it all over the car before I drive it anywhere.....

I always park between Lamborghini's, especially at Walmart parking lots.

It is impossible to get a door ding on fiberglass, but they could chip the paint if they hit it hard enough. But in my experience of owning 3 Corvettes in a row since 2004, I have not had any paint damage from doors hitting it. I'm either just super lucky, or the paint isn't getting nicked from some people's doors hitting it here and there.

Very true, it takes some real force to actually crack a Corvette door. Little paint marks are about all you'll get most of the time, and if you're lucky, they'll buff out.

Have you ever noticed if you park far away from everyone and there's 20 empty spaces around you when you come back there will cars on both sides of you?

I suppose I'm just OCD. I treat all my vehicles the same and always have. I park away from others at the end of the lot, against a curb as tight as possible or at least next to other nice cars. Half of mine are leased and I rarely keep them more than 3 years, which changes nothing. I have a friend across the street from my business that has a dentless repair shop and he repairs mine for free and I still park in odd out of the way spots. So I have to walk a little further, who cares, I need the exercise. Just the way I've always been, can't help it.
