Default Stolen car

This car was stolen while in the care of Nimnicht Chevrolet. We had it in for some warranty work. Someone got into the key box and stole several cars, including ours. So, if you happen to see it, please let us know.

Sorry to hear that. I guess it can happen to any dealership, but not that many that I read about. Good luck with it. Tell us how it turns out.

Sorry to hear about it, that sucks big time.

Unfortunately, just a picture of a blue Corvette probably won't do too much. You could post the VIN here, just so its another thing on the web that might come up in a Google search for someone down the line in the future. But in reality the car will probably be parted out, VIN swapped, or shipped overseas.

Onstar? Call them immediately, explain problem, pay for 1 month service.

I would think the dealer should pay to have this done because it happened while it was in their care.

Sorry your car was stolen but posting a picture without any details not much help. In any case might as well start the onversation with your insurance company.

Sorry this has happened to you. Hope the police can catch the thieves and that your car is not damaged. Good advice about calling OnStar and seeing if they can disable the car. Also, contact your insurance company ASAP to get things going there.

Dealer is liable for your car. But - I always inform my insurance company of any issue. One time I had a new car before the responsible party's insurance contacted me. Another time, my insurance company forced the other guy's insurance to make a proper repair. The last time, the responsible party provided expired insurance - my insurance handled the claim and I was out the deductible.

Argue about who pays Onstar once the car is recovered.

Default Hmm?

My guess, it is already in a shipping container at the Port of Miami. Headed south. That may be good news? I had a 1985 Chevy Blazer stolen in 1986. Bummer the police found it. Two months 1 week, it was buried to its axles in a muddy flood control ditch. Tried to get State Farm to total it but refused. Hated that car from the day I got it back.

If you have on star and the on star app on your phone, it can be found real easy unless thieves remove the onstar equipment from the car.

If it was me, I would not want the car back. Low life thieves do not give a hoot about the car. My guess is they drove it like they stole it (lol). If subjected to severe abuse the car may have mechanical damage that may not be immediately apparent if it is recovered. It is entirely the dealers fault so I would expect them to replace the car.

I believe that if you do not have Onstar active, Onstar cannot activate unless someone in the car actually presses the Onstar button as part of the process. I know from when my son's GM car was gone in 60 seconds...

With onSTAR you can setup locations which will text you when you car arrives or leaves a location. So, when I take my car to the dealer I activate for that address, etc. Of course you have to have onSTAR.

What occurred here is not that unexpected. I have heard cars in dealers lots being stolen before sorry it occurred to you. Please keep us up to date and good luck.

I'll agree with the others and say that I wouldn't want the car back.
As to others claiming the dealership is responsible... "Not so fast Osbourne". Most bailment situations, the bailee is not responsible for any theft or loss to property and usually makes sure exculpatory language is contained in their contracts.

This is correct. I spent 10'years in Auto Theft and On Star would never activate their equipment to recover a stolen car if the owner was not an active subscriber.

Wow that really bites. Your car is identical to how mine was delivered. Hope you get resolution soon. Like others have stated dealer is liable.

Agree. Somewhere, someone is crossing "C7 Corvette Stingray" off of a chalk board list of cars...the good news is I suspect you have a new Corvette in your future.
