Default Has anyone ceramic coated their car themselves?

I have a 2017. I just got it. 3000miles. Almost perfect.
I was thinking of ceramic coating it. I was wondering if anyone has done it themselves?
What brand of product did you use?
How much time did it take?
Would you do it again?
From what I understand it is all in the prep. Which can be time consuming. Putting the ceramic on itself is not difficult?

Thanks

I did it with Carpro. Tedious.
  1. Wash car
  2. clay bar
  3. wipe down wth rubbing alcohol
  4. Apply a small section at a time
  5. Buff out
  6. Add spray over the top for gloss
Looks great!

I used gtechniq crystal serum light. I chose it because it is tough enough that if you want to remove it, it takes sand paper. The only problem I had was I did not heed the warning that the car has to be dry, dry DRY!. I had some water in the groove around the rear window. Some of that water got dragged out by my cloth and it messed up the coating in that area. Not too bad, but it was a lesson learned.
You can do it.
Good luck.

Not on a Corvette, but I did two cars with Gyeon can coat with great results. It's all in the prep work. Wash, claybar, cut, polish, clean, and ceramic coating.

Take your time, make sure you have good lighting from different angles, a good orbital polisher, watch a few videos on how to approach sharp angles and dark paint colors, and have plenty of good micro fiber towels that will be tossed after the ceramic coating application process.

Yes, took me about a weekend but it could be done in a day.

Wash/Clayed (which was necessary even with 1000 miles)/Gyeon Iron & Tar, then polished with a LC white pad and Jescar Finishing Polish, then 2 coats Kamikaze Miyabi and 1 of ISM coat 2.0

Very happy with the Miyabi's reflective shine, ISM was a bit of a pain and is a softer wax-like finish.

Just did it over the weekend. First time. Kamikaze Miyabi. The actual application and removal of the Miyabi was a breeze. Everything before that was a complete PITA!! LOL!

Check out autogeek.com for instructional videos and products. If you enjoy detailing your car and are patient it’s very enjoyable. Properly done, even on a new vehicle, is time consuming. When you finish all the prep, numerous ceramic coatings...some user friendly, some not so much.

Spend the money to get a great DA orbital, I recommend a Flex.

Anyone saying it can be properly done in a day will not achieve the results that you pay the big money for..which is a completely virgin swirl free surface
paint correction.

Entirely possible to do it yourself, I'll jump on the message which you already know, the results are a strong function of the prep. Just finished 8th car this last week, have used CQuartZ UK, Adams, Pinnicale Black...I'd say CQuartZ was the easiest to apply but am pretty impressed with Adams which I did on my dad's 2500 Denali 3 years ago - it sits outside 100% in Michigan and even today, still has the hydrophobic effect the same as day #2. What is your time worth?

Prep and polishing is KEY!! Once you achieve this and the car looks flawless your ready to ceramic coat. Time and patience . The better the car looks the better the results will be. If not you'll be locking in all the imperfections. Good Luck

Yup, GTechniq CSL and EvoV4. Prep took some time but it worked out really well. I did it about a year ago and the car looks great, is easier to wash, and stays cleaner longer. I wouldn't have any reservation about doing it yourself, or using that product.
