Severe oil overfill on Z51
I just had my oil changed and I think they did not drain both plugs as I was sitting in the car and saw them try to figure out why the dipstick showed way over. I provided them 91/2 qts and saw them put it in. They finally drained some oil out and showed me that the oil level was at the full mark (the oil however was room temp).
I drove home about 10 miles thinking I would have the oil changed again at the dealer.
When I got home I checked the level after 5 minutes and it was spot on. I then looked under the car and saw oil dripping to the floor, when I looked behind the car there was a trail of oil all the way from the street and up the driveway to the car. Now I am very concerned as to what is going on.
Will an overfill cause oil to leak out heavily as the car is driven? What else could be going on? I did notice that the car seemed louder in touring mode than normal on the drive home.

Check inside the air intake system. Pop the 2 vent lines and loosen the 2 hose clamps - pull the angle piece. You'll probably find oil. The dealer should clean the system and replace the air filter on their nickel.
See manual for air filter change procedure.

dripping oil....
could be a faulty oil filter. I had that...left a trail of oil and constant drip
or a double seal on the filter. Meaning the previous one was still in place and the new filter was installed over the existing old seal. I also had this happen but not on the vet.

Yes, sounds like oil backed up in your air intake which is a common result of dry-sump oil overfill. I would take it to your Chevy dealer to resolve rather than back to the shop that changed the oil.
Even though it isn't that complicated, I prefer to change my GS oil rather than risk issue with someone else doing it. There's many threads on this forum similar to this.

Thanks for the replies.
Is it safe to drive the car 15 miles to the dealer?

No, not without finding the problem. If you have a massive oil leak you won't make it.

It is so ridiculous that after all the years that the C7 has been out, dealers are still ******* up something as simple as an oil change on it. When will they ever learn?

I got my new GS last spring overfilled when I took delivery. Luckily I read all the stuff on this website and checked the oil when I got home and discovered the mistake and corrected it. Ever since I just tell them to put in 9 quarts and give me the 10th to top it off.

Doesn’t sound like a dealer visit, never seen a dealer sill working on the car while a customer is sitting in it as the OP states...probably a jiffy lube joint.

Yep, he never said it was a dealer. He actually said he was thinking about getting it 'changed again at the dealer', which implies the first place is somewhere else.
When in doubt, they really need to drain again just to be safe. It happened to me last year, when I forgot how much oil I put in the other week, when I started working on my engine. When I was done with the work, I wasn't sure how much oil was in the system and dry sump was completely dry. Instead of draining it, I did the lazy approach, and kept the oil cap half open to see if it's overflowing (would happen within seconds). It sure did, and I shut the engine off right away. Half hour of cleaning the intake pipes where it leaked, and draining the oil again, all was well.

^ I agree, as doesn't sound like from the opening post that it was a Chevy dealer that did the oil change. I wouldn't take it back to them. Best to take it to a Chevy dealer for resolution and take the bill to the first shop for reimbursement.

This is what I am planning to do. After looking the car over it appears that the oil was coming from the area under the where the air filter is located.

This. Get it fixed and bill the shop that did the oil change for whatever it costs to make it right.
