Serpentine Belt
At what point in time should one change this out? When I brought my car in for service the last time with about 97,000 miles on it the advisor said there was minor cracking in it, but it didn't need to be replaced. Doesn't make sense to me. It seems it should be replaced if there is any indication of wear or irregularities.
When looking at the service schedule for the car it doesn't itemize "serpentine belt".

That is decent amount of mileage for a serpentine. Change it yourself or get it changed. No sense in risking getting stranded and/or overheating.

In the past I changed these belts on my car at 75,000 - great to see a corvette with 97,000 miles on it. Have you had to change the fuel filter or pump. I heard to change these parts it is a lot of labor - have to drop the trans. I generally in the past changed these at 75,000 but not if it will cost 2500.

Why wait? Especially if it has minor cracking. Just change it asap. It's 5+ years old too, so regardless of mileage I'd put a new belt on. What point is there in squeezing out a few extra months out of it?

I would go ahead and change the belts. 97K is a lot of miles for the belts and no sense chancing a breakdown.

Out where you live and +100 everyday in the summer, I think I'd change it now, especially if it's showing any cracks. As you know, not far out of LHC there isn't much around. Sitting by the road at 115 waiting for a tow truck wouldn't be any fun.

I have not changed the fuel filter or pump. I have just followed the severe maintenance schedule so far. The only thing I have had to fix so far was just the belt tensioner pulley replacement. Best car maintenance and reliability wise I have ever had. I'm going on one of my infamous 5,000 mile trips this July and will have them change the belt before I hit the road.
It's odd they don't have the fuel filter change out on the maintenance schedule. Thanks.

I was just going by what the service advisor recommended. He stated the tech mentioned it is showing a little wear, but not necessary to change yet. But will do it anyway when I bring it in for the next oil change.

I don't think the fuel filter is an item we really need to be changing on a regular basis anymore, it's not like the old days where you'd do it once a year. I haven't changed a fuel filter on any car I've owned in the past 20 years. It's not listed in the owner's manual as an item in need of changing either. Also, the owner's manual for my 2018 says we don't even need to inspect the serpentine belt until 150,000 miles or 10 years. (and that's the severe service schedule too) But in this case since the inspection turned up some minor cracking I'd personally go ahead and change it.
