I bought a 2019 Stingray coupe July 5th. I carefully inspected the paint on mine and it was okay, However, two out of the five other Stingrays had the problem by the drivers side headlight. I pointed it out to the salesman, and the were immediately taken back to the shop. I don’t know what they intended to do to repair them.

Probably different panel gaps or the way they meet up.

Upgrading to a 19 from my 16 which front and rear fascia are perfect. I will not.... be a happy camper...

This week will be the 4th time my front bumper has had to be repainted on my 17 z with 4k miles. I have called GM and complained asking for an already painted bumper to just be put on instead of having to have my car in the bodyshop for another week and they said NO I couldn't believe it, they offered me nothing for my inconvenience and basically told me to pound sand as the customer service rep never called me back after she said she would this was 3 weeks ago.

are you the original owner? and where did you buy it? just curious as i've reached out to someone at the plant who i became friendly with and has helped numerous members once i forwarded their info.

so sorry to hear that Taf... i went through the whole paint chipping off by the front fender vents on my Z06 and had to wait 2 years for the vent design to be implemented. they shipped the new design right to my dealer from Bowling green (in a box for a tv show promotion was pretty cool) as they weren't releasing them yet. ..

i am truly hoping i have no issues with my 19 when it comes in as i know it will be too late to order another one if it falls apart.. although.. first world problems right?

Yes I am the original owner I have owned it for 1 year and 1 month. Bought it from a Chevy dealer in Flint mi that has since been bought out by another group of individuals. The dealer has not given me any trouble about repainting the bumper but the fact that this will be the 4th time including the factory paint is really ridiculous. The car is artic white and last time they painted it the front bumper has a yellow tint to it and doesn't match the artic white. Good luck with your 19 and to everyone else going thru this paint chipping issue.

Yeah regardless of what other folks say to the contrary, they are never going to match factory paint with body shop resprays. Can they do a really good job and blend it so the untrained eye doesn't notice there is a difference most of the time? Absolutely. But thats best case scenario, a really good attempt at matching and blending. Worst case you get striking difference. Keep in mind that no car no matter how much wax or PPF is 100% protected from UV. It will slowly but surely shift over time making it harder.to match.

Having to respray a brand new car is unacceptable. It might be alright for some folks with lower standards but it shouldn't be.

I'm hoping to god I don't have that on mine when it comes in or I'm going to have to find another car.

Waiting around for my oil change at dealer last week and took a look at 2 brand new 2019's on the lot.

There was paint coverage missing on the white car on the drivers fender beside the front bumper.
There was paint curling on the black car on the front bumper.

Paint problems aside, look at the hood gap differences between the two cars!

Yep... panel gap consistency has been a big issue on the C7s.

That said, the black gap will appear larger at this angle because the side of the hood looks like gap vs. the white car.

Where is the QC at BG or is this happening during transport? Why aren't the dealers fixing these issues before putting cars on the lot? Crazy.

The paint is popping after factory QC. The dealers don't care.

That is a sad and pathetic commentary. I guess the millions GM spent on a new paint shop weren't enough. Maybe plastic body panels with poor fit aren't the best choice.

Its odd to me that in the OP's photos, that the problem is in the same spot in all the pictures. I would suggest that all of you that are having this problem, get together and file a class-action suit. I guarantee that will at least get their attention if nothing else. And for all of you that have already decided what Tadge would do or not do in an Ask Tadge post, give it a try. It won't take but a few minutes.

The fools don't know enough toe clean the mold release on those spots. It's like applying paint to something coated withWD 40.

I already did. See my thread at this link. I encourage all of you with the paint problems to add your voice. Don't hold your breath waiting for a response, however, because I am told this issue will never get past the mods so we will never get an opportunity for Tadge to answer.

Tadge don't care, and it's not an engineering issue anyway. The plant manager and plant workers don't care, and the dealers don't care. Hello Kerbeck, McMaulkin, Chriswell, show us that you care. Hope you respond. This has been going on since the first 2014 was delivered. Just ask "jagamajajaran" His yellow 14 Stingray was the worst example of a factory painted car that I ever saw. See post #11. The new paint shop was a lie. Retooling the assembly line was a lie. Nothing ever changed. They were expanding the factory getting ready for C8 production, we all know that now.

No... there really is an all-new paint shop. The paint on the cars coming out of it is awesome... other than this mold release issue. It's the best production line paint you'll ever see on a composite panel car.
