Do they do anything for insulation? I was told that as a kid. We had a cedar shake shingle roof and it had them.

Roof Bling, see now that's funny, Snow Guards, they hold the snow and let it melt slowly, rather than falling off the roof and killing people below because the roof is so slipprey
