Default XPEL Fusion Plus ceramic coating thread

Folks,

After coming to terms with the fact that I am an under the hood guy more than an over the hood type, I decided that the Grand Sport needed to be properly prepped and ceramic coated by someone not me. Looked at a few places and found a local guy that was doing the recently released XPEL Fusion Plus ceramic coating. The idea of a four year warranty and seeing this stuff on a car was enough to force me out of the cash that I usually have a tighter grip on, and so I let it go.

Let me first say THANK YOU to Michael over at Dynamic Auto Spa in Forsyth County, GA. He spent SEVERAL hours cleaning, correcting, and prepping this car before putting this stuff on, and it looks like a totally different beast to me. Color is darker (got the muck out of the clear), and the shine is crazy. Honestly I was apprehensive going into this, but am tremendously pleased with how it came out! Can't say enough good things about that guy and his business. WELL DONE!

I will continuously update this thread with the short, mid, and long term results of this stuff, consider me the beta tester.

Ours is going in 17th of next month, your car looks fantastic, so you added the stage 2 GM ends to that rear spoiler?

I’m having Opti-Coat Pro Plus put on. Had this on my C6. Hope it turns out as nice as yours.

Yes exactly. Found them on the for sale section here (even coated them too).

THANKS! I debated on those hash marks for a long time, but wanted it to be a little different. Have to get off the pot and put the stinger on that's been sitting there for a month now!

Just sayin, on a white car they's be perfection!

Had paint correction & CarPro CQuartz Professional done at licensed CarPro franchise in Springfield, Mo on my '16 Z after having it 18 months & never being thrilled with finish. After was incredible. Got my '19 Z last week & have already scheduled it for paint correction & CarPro CQuartz Professional at same CarPro shop as before even tho it's a 2 hr. drive & have to rent car to get back home since it takes 3 days. Paint on '19 Z is VERY MUCH improved but there is still great improvement by having paint correction to level out the highs/lows in any paint finish that didn't level out in production. It is the uneven paint levels, no matter how minute (tiny) that cause paint to reflect the light hitting the paint in scattered patterns instead of DIRECTLY back at a 90* angle to the panel it's on. It truly is a MIRROR image reflection (flat). There is only so much correction that can be safely done depending on tintcoat thickness tho. The ceramic coating just makes cleaning/drying the car so-so-so much easier with the never ending shine. Wax is not to be used on ceramic coated cars! There are products such as Reload that enhances the shine used maybe once a year. It is NOT PAINT PROTECTION in the sense Expel or similar FILM provides. JMO, if you don't like it or agree, simply don't pay for it. PS: Had sent couple of questions to CarPro guy, one about putting on my Jake stinger before or after treatment & he said do it first (put on Jake) because Jake won't adhere very well to super slick ceramic coating. I was also concerned doing paint correction might damage the Jake but he assured me it is taped off for protection & tape removed to treat it as well as rest of car.

Def thought about it. If I do, I'll do the stinger as well...

Friend of mine has that color in his Camaro and I love it. I'd totally buy a car like that but NO WAY am I listening to that guy call me 'single white female' all day. He is on here and knows what I'm talking bout.

That being said, your car looks AMAZING man... WOW!!!!

I'm pinging him now because he needs to see that shine. @unixadm

Great color choice...and seeing that, I’m even more convinced now that I will have to do the xpel and ceramic coating on my nightfall grey Camaro 2SS convertible.

devnull cannot buy that color since I own it. The single white female was a movie reference because I ended up with the not only the same color car, but the exact same car and got transferred to the same office...so now there is a ban on owning even the same color car while working together!
