When your car emails you!
So 225 miles on the GS since picking up almost 2 weeks ago and I get home from a 30 mile bicycle ride last night with the wife and I get an email from OnStar, You have a low tire or flat on drivers rear. Nice to know so I have time to pull it off and get fixed today so we can enjoy the car over the weekend. Did not expect emails like this but pretty cool, must have picked up this screw on Tuesday night when we went out for a 25 mile drive............

Mine e-mail me about a Russian bride....haha.
I'd comment that this is a nice service if the message was received within minutes of the low pressure warning.

He said Onstar emailed him.
Yep, you can manage your notifications on Onstar's website. I keep it at texts, don't need anymore emails from anyone. The problem is, as Kenny pointed out, the problems normally occur during driving. So, getting a message on the dash and then getting an email (or text) kinda defeats the purpose. The text I received didn't say anything other than "service engine and transmission within 1 day".

I get those notifications on my Impala - nice reminders, especially the tire pressure.

I suppose such emails are okay... if your car sets around most of the time. Otherwise, you'd know before getting the email, I suspect.

With my last flat tire:
The DIC displayed a warning of a low tire pressure when I started driving home (so I added air)
When I got home I had an email warning me of the same.
After having the tire plugged I got another email telling me I lost all pressure (when the tire was un-mounted).
Some will complain that GM is snooping too much. I'm fine with safety warnings.

Update: So I dropped off my wheel to Pagnanno's Automotive out on a quiet country road and he called back a couple hours later it was good to go. We are lucky for those that know about Pagnanno's here in Sonoma county as he is basically a one man shop that does all the work himself and takes pride, not many like him left. I first met him about 3 years ago when putting tires on my C5 and found him through Tire Rack as he is there number one rated installer in the area. He put a German branded plug in it (can't remember the name) from the inside followed by a patch, he also said I was now the "record holder" for largest tire on his machine with the 335-25-20 LOL. His equipment is the best with his balance putting the weight of the car on the tire when it balances, and definitely cleanest auto shop you will ever go in. Cost $50 and worth every penny!

My dealer carefully removed the wheel from my car, unmounted the tire, patched it, remounted it, rebalanced it and put back on my car. Because they're a sponsor of my club (Santa Clara Corvettes in Northern Calif.) there was no charge. ;-)
