C7 steering wheel removal...HELP!!!
Please help. I’m trying to remove the front airbag/ horn button looking thing on my steering wheel , so that I can continue to remove the steering wheel. I am having trouble removing it. I know it has two small holes on the sides of the back of the steering wheel, and I’m using 2 small screw drivers to try to release the clips , but I can’t seem to have any luck in doing so. Anybody have any easier ways or ideas to remove it ?? Please help!!

It is fiddly for sure. I’ve remove many, and what I do is get one side pushed in while pulling the airbag outward. That will hold that side’s spring so you can do the other side. It takes a little practice but you’ll get it out!

like DEVNULL said....If you can get one side to pop loose that will give you an idea of how it works.....just be very patient !!!!!!!!!! there is no easy way to do it.
If your patience threshold is low and dont have a fair amount of mechanical skills id consider passing the job off to a shop.
also....watch EVERY youtube video out there it can get dicy , ask me how i know.

I've never had difficulty with the clip, removing the steering wheel bolt is where I've had issue. Use the highest quality T50 torx bit you can find, preferably a SnapOn.
They put them on fairly tight and of course there's the lock-tite.

I use either an allen or torx T-handle (doesn't matter which) that'll fit the holes, they're long enough and the t-handle makes them easy to use and apply pressure.
Also, for the steering wheel torx bolt, carefully heat it with a hand held heat gun, then hit it with the impact. It'll come right off.
Patience and not rushing also help!!
