Thinking about upgrading to a C7
Good Morning Everyone!
I currently have a 2010 GS that's been giving me more and more problems lately and I'm about done with it. I'm thinking about getting a C7, preferrably a GS if budget allows for it. What are some things yall like/don't like about the C7? What are common problems with it and what should I look out for?
Thanks!

On my 2nd C7 (first was a '14 Z51, now a '19 Grand Sport). (had a C5Z06 and C6 coupe beforehand)
C7 is a vastly superior car in just about every way.

Read about the potential dashboard problems with the 3LT trim. If buying used, look around the defroster vents for separation and splitting. Not covered by extended warranties.

Make sure you understand the risks involved if you get an 8-speed auto, thats all I'm going to say.

Wait 2 weeks until more info about the C8 is released then go from there! With the C8 pricing, you'll know whether or not you want to make the upgrade to C8 or wait it out a couple of years in case of early production model issues then "settle" for C7. Hopefully 2 weeks isn't that long for you

Be patient and go with the M7. It'll be hard to find one but I've had both the A8 and the M7 and there's no comparison. (no offense to the A8 folks)

I am been on the forum for about 12 weeks now. When I was looking for a C7 this is what I determined.
Get the manual...Lots of reported issues of it making jerks or noise when coming to a stop. Plus it is slow. Get the manual..is it a good one.
GS was not for me...all the talk about the rim damage made me go Z51...
Do not get 3lt package...leather is Nappa so will wear faster and reports of it lifting off by front windshield
Since you have a corvette to trade in you should get 3000 rebate so buying new you should get about 20 percent off MSRP. Used you will get about 30 percent.
If you go used and it is a 2017 make sure it is not waiting for the power steering recall.
Good luck

Go in knowing which transmission you want, the automatic could be problematic. 3LT trims might have pilling, inspect the instrument panel and the vents for signs of damage if your going for a 3LT car.
I'd also suggest trying the competition seats vs the touring seats as some people have a preference or never had the chance to try both before choosing and regretted it later on. PDR also can't be added post build so decide if you want that as well.
As for likes/dislikes? There isn't much to dislike. My biggest gripe is I can't pump gas at full speed or it will trigger the cut off otherwise I love these cars

I've had my '14 coupe since last November - nothing so far that I dislike about it.

As others mentioned, I would advise staying away from the 3LT trim package due to risk of leather dash shrinking/peeling.
Also check your body panel seams, especially at front bumper to fender edges near headlight for popping/cracking of paint.
You hear a LOT about GS and Z06 wheels bending/cracking around here however I expect like the A8 issues, it's a small % of the overall. I wouldn't let it keep me from purchasing a particular C7 I wanted.
Good luck

Yes, there have been A8 issues. Most estimate the failure rate at about 5%. Install a Range devise to keep it from going into v4 mode and you have practically eliminated that risk.
Yep, manuals are hard to find. I've always had manuals, even my daily driver. But couldn't find a M7 GS with everything else I wanted when searching so settled for the A8 and I love it. So please I went that way.

I read about the failures of the A8 and read a lot of mentions re: the Range. I had no idea wtf this was and I think I'll get one, though I read a few posts that said driving the vette in manual kept it running on all 8 cylinders. I always use the paddle shifters in my C6, but I'll probably still get a Range to have piece of mind.
Yup, I read about the 3LT trim package having problems with the dashpad shrinking.... Smdh at GM, one would think the highest trim level would have the least amount of problems.... I've been looking at 1LTs, the others are a bit more than I want to pay.
I hadn't read about the body panels and wheels of Grand Sports and Z06 wheels bending/cracking; that's crazy.... I'm looking at 2019s so hopefully this won't be a problem initially but hopefully something I don't experience down the road....

I made my appointment with a local Chevy dealership, I'll be test driving a black 2019 GS, A8, LT1 tomorrow around 1030-1100 and can't wait!

2LT includes (adds $4500):
Adds a few necessities including everything found in the 1LT plus: Console and door panels in interior color, Lumbar/wing adjust, Heated/vented seats, Seat emblems, front camera, 10-speaker BoseŽ premium audio system, Universal Home Remote, Auto-dimming mirrors, Memory Package, Head-Up Display, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with one-year subscription, Enhanced Theft-Deterrent Package, Luggage shade/cargo net
